Hey everyone, thanks for the reponses i have looked into all of them!
KentishTricia, Forgewood does look good and i may give them a call once i get some time! I like the sound of a campfire and hidden in the woods! :)
Francophile1947, unfortunately they seem to have an age restriction at Deepdale!, and it looks a bit too packed for us, we'd like to be somewhat out of the way so as not to disturb others.
Hey Tigerworm, there are only 2 people in my group who have passed their test haha, and he's driving his car too! So unfortunately Im stuck! I will put that place on the short list though as it does seem suitable, thanks!
Ashewell girl, we are from Enfield and we want to go far away so that's a no haha :P.
Hello hlk01, we're looking for a site in early August, and a little less commercial looking, but thank you anyway!
Some friends of mine attempted to wild camp in Epping Forest last night, some of them got scared and fled however when a family arrived near them at 1am with 2 babies and said they were just going for a walk..in pitch black haha!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
My 19 year old son and 7 others (mixed sexed group) recently stayed at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=8511 for a couple of nights. Apparently you just pitch up and the owners come round at some point to collect the fees (£10 pn I think?) The site is basic, compost type loos, cold shower etc but only a 15 minute walk to a great beach.
They had a great time and didn't need to book, just turned up and if theres a space that's ok! Having said all that they wern't over noisy ot disrespectful to other campers (so they tell me!) so they were accepted no problem.

Well I don't know where you got the 'worm' bit from! lol. I've just spent the weekend at the site I mentioned to you and had a great time. There was some sort of VW Campervan group having a meet there, so you and your friends would be fine if you could get there. Another one I thought of is Shell Island near Barmouth, it's only just slightly over your 4 1/2 hours and would be ideal for you - plenty of places for you to tuck yourselves away and I think you're allowed campfires on/near the beach.

You mention Epping Forest, you could try Debden House, Loughton, which is at the edge of Epping Forest, seemed to be young groups there and they allow open fires. They are on the UK Campsite listings.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
