We were away in the same period as David (September), and were very surprised how busy some of the sites were, so very glad we had worked out a route and booked our sites.

Seemed to be mainly English and foreign vans/MHs where we were, other than at weekends.

We were in Scotland for two weeks on September - v busy. Glen Nevis holiday park just outside Fort William was stunning and is right at the base of Ben Nevis. Ardmair Point was beautiful ( near Ullapool) but in the middle of nowhere and could be dull if the weather is rubbish-but got some stunning photos there. Grantown on Spey was a surprise-a very good site with stunning woods and the Spey in easy walking distance. Great pictures there of red squirrels but sadly no capercaille-wotsits.
