One thing to remember, motorhomes can be very big and very heavy. You may want to put a road through so they don't chew up the field
Good point but we already take Combines and very large Tractors through there
Thats OK then, I just know the mess that can happen very quickly
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I'd pay £30 - £35 a night for my main holiday if a campsite could offer me things I couldn't get elsewhere.
Check out http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=5050 - they only take weekly bookings and it's £210 for a week or an extra £30 if you want electric. Unfortunately they don't take dogs or I'd definitely be heading off there. Love the seclusion, size of the pitches and inclusion of firepit and picnic table.
I'm still on the lookout for our dream campsite which would allow us to pitch a tent in a well fenced pitch so our dogs could be off lead and save us having to untangle them from guy ropes all the time.
Site is more important to me than the part of the country it's in so I would travel and pay a premium for a site which ticked all the boxes. Everyone's different so you probably need to decide which sector you want to appeal to.
Quite fancy a trip to Suffolk so keep us posted on how your planning app goes.

No tents? And showing my ignorance...what is CS/CL?
I have family that live in Suffolk and would love to be able to camp near them but on a strict budget it's impossible
No Tents? - we would have a lot of problems getting Planning for a shower block. Caravans and Motorhomes are pretty well self contained
What is a CS/CL? These are Certifeied Sites and Certified Locations and are run by the Caravan Club and the Camping&Caravan Club, I forget which term applies to which Club.

I agree with wisaacs here. If it's a good site and tick the boxes, in the right location then we tend to pay the fee. £35 would be towards the top end of our budget. We wouldn't give a £40 site a second glance, I'm afraid.

The Caravan Club has CLs, the Camping and Caravanning Club has Certificated Sites, very similar except CSs (usually) accomodate tents as well as caravans.
Basic facilities are listed here. Many, for example, are own sanitation essential, may or may not have EHU etc., but most are reasonably priced.

We use the Camping and Caravan CS sites in a tent, but you do need to have the right equipment, for an own sanitation essential site, a porta loo and washing facility. Both of which soon pay for themselves. So if you want to keep the costs down this is the way to go.

Please don't dismiss the idea of having a CS and therfore being able to accept tents.
Not all campers want or need a shower block. If you are prepared to use a no facilities site (ie: one that stipulates own san ess), then generally a camper will already have the correct equipment to enable them use such a site.

Ignorance again..(I'm so sorry) would I have to join the caravan and camping club to go on these sites?
And as long as there's a toilet and cold water (that you can drink) we don't need anything else while camping!! We're a pretty hardy lot lol
You may hear of non-members who have used Certificated Sites/Locations without being asked for membership cards, but if this does happen it's obviously unfair to members as well as being in breach of the Certificate granted to the site, so yes, you should be a member. You may not need to join in advance, though - in many cases you can join on arrival at a CS (or indeed at a C&CC Temporary Holiday Site - another inexpensive alternative offered by the Club.
Again you may need a portable toilet for some of these, but there will be disposal facilities as well as drinking water).

Eastnor Castle Deer Park charges £7.50 a night, CD and water points only.
I'd pay up to £10 a night for a nice site without facilities.
No amount of facilities would induce me to part with £30 - £35 a night as suggested by a couple of other posters - I draw the line at £15 inc EHU unless I have a very special reason such as meeting up with friends, and even then I wouldn't go over 20.
I think some campers must have a lot more disposable income than others.
------------- Caz
If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
I definitely don't have lots of disposable income. I work full time in a stressful job and my husband is self employed and works all hours so our holiday time is very precious to us. We spend hardly anything on going out, don't have big screen tvs (ours isn't even flat screen) or the latest gadgets, we hate shopping (so no bags, shoes or loads of clothes for us) and we have no children. We just want to have a great holiday for 2 weeks a year (and don't go abroad - just camping in the UK).
Therefore I'm prepared to pay a bit over the odds for a 'special' campsite. Even £30 a night is cheaper than a cottage or sometime even a static van at the time of year we go.
Fully appreciate that people who go camping every weekend or lots of time during the year or who are on a tight budget due to having a family might find £30 too much but I think there's room for all sorts of sites for all sorts of people.
Just wanted to explain that we are in no way rich :)
I would not pay more than £7.50 a night for a basic (water and Chemical disposal) You would have to join either of the big clubs to become a cl or cs but with them they have exception certificates meaning you don't have to apply for planning, however you would then be limited to a max of 5 vans a night and tents I'm not sure but I think the limit is 10.
Don't worry about facilities for tenter's there are many of us that still like to get back to basic camping, occasionally in my case now
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
