Out of all the sites I have stayed at ( 2 years camping ) I have only ever had to pay a deposit once the remainder on arrival.

I even had a notice up saying "if you don't see us please put money through letter box"

I have camped at The Quiet Site a number of times but I looked at their website recently and the site appears to have doubled in size and so have their prices.

It looks as though it is under new ownership as it seems to bear no resemblance to the old site.

We do ask for 100% monies upfront after years of people booking (even paying a deposit), and not turning up.........those empty pitches therefore cost us money on a busy park like ours.

Its sad but it was the case of a significant minority spoiling it for the majority.
