Greenacres near Brampton is one of our favourite halfway stops, 2 or 3 minutes from j44 at Carlisle. It's adult only though, so no use to you if you have young family. £15 a night with EHU last time we were there, immaculate site, all hard standing with quite a few fully serviced pitches.

We use Englethwaite Hall CC site on our trips south, Easy to get to and very quiet.
