Paula, I'm so sorry you (and others) have had such a wet holiday.
I understand if people have already booked they may as well turn up but I'm not putting myself through it. Wouldn't be able to cook anything or boil water for a coffee.
Don't mind some bad weather but not everyday.

Been raining since Saturday, crappy British built caravan been leaking, my sons duvet has been getting wet. Today is he first dry period I have had a chance to buy some silicon sealant and bodge the dealers warranty repair bodge. Caravan will be going back for further repair.
This morning at 3am the wind got up to 50mph. Some of my neighbours chose to take their awnings down, some awnings ended up in the skip and a few of my neighbours had left by the time I got up. It was frightening, wind rocking van, awning poles banging against van. Awning poles bending. I chose to lash the awning down with tow straps I had to brace against the force bending the poles.
Needless to say there were not many tents left here this morning.

I think it depends where you go in France. The mid section of west coast I believe has the same sunshine hours as the Mediterranean south coast. My neighbours are in the vendee right now and I think it's a bit warmer and drier than west Dorset. A lot of people in the site where I am staying have called quits and gone home.
