Can't use the £4 day ticket on the tram - I know, I was politely put off it! If your site is within the Edinburgh City boundary, the buses will work fine. Linlithgow (Beecraigs) isn't in Edinburgh City, it's in West Lothian. The park & rides do fill up, we find, even outside the Festival, as folk use them for going to work.
Plenty of sites to choose from without going outlside the City. Most if not all reviewed here on UKCS.
