Sorry for being slow. But how does the site make the connection between a UKCS review by the OP calling themselves Europa390, and a Joe Bloggs (I’ve no idea what the OP’s real name is, nor their email address) making a booking some time later. I’d be interested in that level of snooping or stalking by the site.
Whilst I feel the review was fair, the overall tone was - to my mind - negative, reflecting the writer's disappointment. Of course, any site may be different from our expectations in reality.
Was the fire in the bin area recent? Site may well have been waiting on insurers to get their act together. Did the OP ask if it would feasible to change pitches? I'm assuming the cracked basin and poorly functioning loo were reported.
I don't think the site owners have behaved well but, as is often said on here, it's up to the site owners to determine their rules.

The OP quotes the pitch number in their review, month of stay and model of their caravan in their profile and user name, so not difficult for the site to link the review to their records.
It wouldn't surprise me that sites operate a blacklist of customers that they would not wish to accept future bookings from, for whatever reason.

Agreed.
Possibly got flagged at the time, and assuming the OP hasn't changed their email and/or mobile number since then, alarms went off when trying to return years later.
One (now retired) campsite owner (only 11 pitches... phone booking only... no website) we got quite pally with admitted to giving "Undesirables" a double-barrelled surname in his mobile contacts, during/after their first visit... and all included either "Yes", "Maybe" or "NoWay"!
He just had to be careful not to get carried away, and not to mention "Sorry, we are full for those dates", until the customer had actually stated their desired dates, as he already knew he was about to refuse them!
Of course, he only admitted this after giving us a "Yes". Probably on our 4th or 5th visit, whilst sat chatting with a beer out of my fridge!

That would be great! Love to hear why they consider keeping my £25.00 deposit is a legitimate action!
It's clearly not, bad enough that they cancelled your booking, but absolutely no right to withhold your deposit. Can you claim it back through your card company / bank ?
-------------
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Thanks for your comment, I think I may write to them, by way of a proper letter.. Such formality may shake the situation up a little. I have 16 screen shots of their poor reviews since, so I would print those out and send them with a ‘looks like I wasn’t the only one then’
😂😂😂
I don’t think that would be helpful. They’ve maybe been blacklisted for bad reviews too - or will be, if you highlight them.
You’ve paid for something that you’ve not got, it’s a consumer “goods & services” legislation matter I’d have thought. I agree with the advice to claim from the credit card company.
I agree, with Fiona, they are of course entitled to decide who uses their site, whether any of us agree with how they reached the decision or not.
The only issue to resolve here is getting your deposit returned, not whether your review was fair or not. Winding them up with copies of other reviews isn't going to help. Just demand the refund you are legally entitled to , and let it go.
I've read a lot of the other reviews on the site in question and yours is definitely not the only one with negative points. But I wouldn't go down the route of sending a copy of those other reviews, that's only going to put their back up I suspect, and would lessen the chance of them refunding the deposit. If they still won't return your deposit (which of course they should, as they've not accepted your booking) then contact the card issuer. I hope you get your deposit back soon.
Under CRA 2015 you are entitled to a full refund as it is the supplier that cancelled the deal. If you paid the deposit using a credit card and the total amount was over £100 then you cna put a claim to the CC company under S75 of the CCA.
I haven't seen the review in question but that's irrelevant from your legal position. You need to stay cold and level-headed. The position is that the contract has been terminated by the supplier and therefore you are entitled to a full refund of your deposit.
Write to them - by recorded postal delivery as well as email - stating this position and making reference to the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Say that if your deposit is not returned to you in full within 7 days you will refer the matter to the Small Claims Court.

Thanks for your advice. I think my refund is on the way now. I did consider the small claims court but the fees are more than my deposit. They fired a parting shot by saying that in view of MY attitude I wasn’t the sort they’d have wanted on site anyway.
Such lovely people.
Hopefully it’s all over and done with now. 😩😩😩😩😂😂😂
