No problem, I hope your family enjoy the album. The coloured pics were from an old box of slides I found and I had them put onto a disc by a specialist. Deb
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

Hi, I've just stumbled upon this thread about Hookhills Farm and Campsite at Goodrington, Devon. My Grandparents Ron and Millie Rogers owned the farm and turned it into a campsite. I've been doing some family research and collecting photos which I've uploaded to Flickr: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmoTMF67
Ron Rogers died in 1968, Hookhills was eventually sold as part of his estate. The buyers kept it going into the 1970s but it was doomed to be sold for new homes eventually, it was prime land.
if anyone has any holiday pics I'd love to see them.
Hi Deb, Well what a great start to my weekend!
Having just booked to stay at Beverley Park next week, having stayed there and at Hoburne many times, I once again thought about Hookhills Farm and how, in about 1964, Mum & Dad brought us all down from Bolton in their VW Beetle to camp there.
So I did a Google search and found this thread!!
We went on to Cornwall from Hookhills and it clearly left it’s mark as I moved there in 1974 and have been here ever since.
We inherited the same French Lamont tent used at Hookhills and this served us well till it fell apart!
We moved on to a caravan and have stayed at Beverly and Hoburne more times then we can remember, we did a New Year rally at Hoburne for 14 years in a row, but not for about 3 years so next week is a bit of nostalgia and will now be all the more enjoyable.
Things like this show how great the internet can be!
Thanks again for the amazing photos.
Would love to see any pictures you take to update my memories of the wonderful Hook hills Site. I remember as a 16 year old having a "soft drink"
in the tiny Hook hills Barn with my late parents.
Yes Hookhills Community Centre is within some of the old farmhouse and barn buildings. I have visited once and was amazed to find an old farm trough still in a wall. The swimming pool has been filled in and is a play park, I think there has been a nursery there years ago. People in the Community Centre bar (in a barn) were very friendly and helpful when I wandered in and told them who I was!
They have a website: https://www.hookhillscommunitycentre.co.uk
Hi Deb,
Hope you don't mind me messaging you but I've just seen your pics of Hookhills.
I just wanted to thank you so much as they brought back so many happy memories of family holidays with my 2 younger brothers and parents when we would drive down from Durham for our annual two weeks.
I stayed at Beverley park last year and also visited the Hookhills community centre a couple of times (had a couple of drinks that I was too young for the last time I was there 50 years ago)
Like you found, the people in the Community Centre bar were very friendly and really helpful when I walked in and explained it was the first time I had been back in 50 years or so......I'll be popping back in later this year as I have booked at Beverly again.
I've attached a pic of my family at Hookhills....I think 1969.
(I'm standing on the right, sorry its a scan of a now quite old pic)
Thanks once again,
Take care,
Kev
