Excuse me Redwoolfy, what does your turn of phrase "we had our caps nailed on good and proper" mean. I haven't come across that one before.
The only reason we go to Haven sites is because the children love the characters so much. I have come to hate them, especially that horrible passive-aggressive elephant.
Have you tried Rockley Park in Pool / Dorset I went there with my caravan a few years ago, Nice pitches and club house, but spent most of my time in the town very nice pleace to go.

when your reading the reviews i would read them all and make your own mind up as peoples expectations and standards are different some people just cant be pleased no mater what, ive read so many times ....stay away from haven sites but lakeland has proven them wrong i wonder if people that post the stay away from haven sites have actually viseted them all? or just tar all with same brush from one bad trip
glad we didnt or we would never have found lakeland ...where else can you camp 2 adults and 2 children for 5 nights at £22.50(les than £5 a night) including indoor pool outdoor pool ect ect 5 mins from lakes

never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you on experience
Oh how I agree about the fact that there is a difference in the sites. A now before we started camping we'd hired statics at Lakeland, Carla Gran and Greenacres, without any problems. At Lakeland we had to report a fault with a leaky tap - maintenance out within the hour, and really polite and hoped it hadn't spoilt are holiday. We've camped at Lakeland no problem. Really impressed when I heard the touring warden quote a ridiculous to a group of young people, who arrived in three cars, radios blasting, shouting and swearing to each other etc. Last year we were going to camp at Greenacres, as we now have a trailer tent, and then Richard hurt his had. Well to give me a break as he needed a lot of extra help himself, and I wouldn't have been able to put the trailer tent up single handed, we decided to hire a chalet at HafanY Mor - not impressed. Long list of problems. Not a site I'd visit again.

We have stayed at Lakeland and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site is big enough to keep you entertained, but not so large you feel like you are herded in like sheep. The toilets and shower blocks are kept wonderfully clean and the warden is a really friendly and informative fella.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
