Hot showers with plenty of space to move about, somewhere to put your clothes so they don't get wet, heating in shower block when required (and it quite often is in Scotland).
A level site with plenty of space, nice landscaping - I don't like campsites that are basically just open fields, I like the odd tree here and there, hedges and shrubbery for privacy and natural windbreakers! Erm ...
Somewhere in the country but near enough to "things to do" if we want to do them. A wee shop on site for essentials. Friendly, accommodating wardens. Friendly, considerate fellow campers. No midgies. No traffic noise.
------------- Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Mine is different from those listed so far and am interested if there is anybody like me as I appear to be in the minority.
An empty field..... A tap....... stunning scenery..... No roads....... Groups of say 4 campers..... A shower would be nice..... and a chemical disposal point. No electricity is good and NO LOOs because it tends to keep the crowds away. Quite good if the shower look a bit shabby on the outside as that keeps the crowds away also as long as clean inside. Grass not too trimmed, a field rather than a manicured site. No lights so it gets really dark at night and you can see the stars..... Shaded area would be good.
A communal camp bonfire area is good too...
Like a couple happy kids and like a nice friendly mutt or two as they provide pleasant entertainment. No television (at least not so I can hear it).
Peaceful site, a river or running water and some trees, not a formal site ie no marked pitches, clean toilet and shower (i'm nearly with you tentpegjenny but I do need a loo!). I don't mind a couple of well behaved kids and dogs - it adds entertainment. A local baker who brings croissants onto the site in the morning would be good! I'm not bothered about a shop, we find local shops etc. A nice small bar for the ocassional beer in company but no entertainment.
Actually we're nearly going to our ideal site on Tuesday - off to Belgium to chill and relax next to the river...
I love sights that are hard to find and you get lost a couple of times on the way. When you get there then you really feel as though you are at somewhere special!
As for wishes etc, how about, you arrive at the site and go to the reception. You're taken to your very big pitch, then 4 scantily clad beauties erect your tent perfectly and unpack all your little fiddly bits like that new cooker that needs all sorts doing to it. They then cook the perfect camping tea of tinned spuds, tinned steak and tinned veg with a big wedge of freshly baked bread oh and of course a pint of carslberg.....
Think I`m going against the tide here but I would like a site with some nice, friendly kids on so my two would have company.
I would also like as level a pitch as possible, nice CLEAN showers etc especially if you can get those with loo and sink enclosed with it.
A nice family bar, with some form of entertainment on at night for when we decide to stray from the side of our tent and beer that don`t cost the earth.
Plenty of nice scenery and things to do in the area.
EXCELLENT weather and errrrrr, if I think of anything else I will let you know!
I second Beezers post but would have to allow my little dog!
Quote: I find that to many showers dont have shelves or some where to keep your clothes dry.
Too right! I think i have only ever found one campsite that has them
