Luton to Consett is only a one day haul, why bother with a stop?

We often do Glasgow to Peterborough with no problems, only OH driving.  We leave home at 9am, toilet stop at Gretna, 90 minutes for lunch once we are down the A1 a bit, Ferry Meadows in plenty of time for cooking dinner.

Thanks Alan and Rabb but that's a bit too far south.

Jennifer, would agree but I don't drive, anyway stopping somewhere new is part of the fun! Thanks anyway.

Using the M1 half way is around Nottingham/Derby.  How about Clumber Park?

But the whole trip is only about 250 miles, so about 5 hours driving.  Surely you do not need an overnight stop for that distance?   I agree stopping somewhere new is half the fun, but we would only do it if we were stopping 2 or 3 days to explore the area.

Thanks Jennifer, have booked a certificated site in S. Yorks. We always stop over somewhere, could do it in 1 but prefer not to.
