we're off to Woolacombe on Friday, no snow here or down there. Yes forecast is for cold weather but not worried as the caravan heater is very good. If I was tent camping there is no way I would be going.

we are campsite wardens and are praying people cancel for easter.we have had torrential rain and snow so the ground is sodden, please ring the site you are going to and check the conditions.putting people on soggy pitches this early will ruin them for the rest of the season and remember 85% of sites have not recovered from last years downpours.
I'm really not trying to be argumentative :)BUT, why not call people and tell them you have to cancel due to the conditions of the site pitches, due to the weather? Yes you will loose money over the weekend, but if you end up with a severely damaged site, will you not end up loosing even more money, with pitches you just cannot hire out?
I'm new to camping, and I probably dont even have the right to comment, but I really am interested :)

We went on a CC rally at the weekend and had a great time. The rally was in Scotland. Wrapped up warm for walks, the van was lovey and warm and so was the company.

In the South West where they have had heavy rain followed by snow, my friend who owns a campsite down there says that the ground is so soaked that there is nothing to absorb all the water. She says it will need at least 7 days with no rain for the pitches to dry out. She was making a decision as to whether to cancel her bookings on Monday although I haven't heard from her as to what conclusion she came to. I feel sorry for her, if she cancels her bookings then she loses loads of money, if she doesn't she could end up with horrendous pitches. Not a good situation. It would probably be a good idea for anyone with a booking checking with the site to see if things are still okay and to see if the conditions are suitable for them (not everyone likes damp, snow, freezing temps). Obviously, the weather has hit different places to different extents so there will be some places where there are no problems and, for those of you that do get away, have a great time

I do not like camping during the school holidays or Bank Holidays, and prefer to spread my holidays over the year by having 5-6 nights over long weekends, including the colder months.
However, Easter weekend is too good a weekend not to go camping, as I only need to take 2 days off to have a 6-nighter.
Camping in the cold can be as much fun as camping in the warmer months, just need to make some adjustments to the gear and food lists, and be prepared for cold, wet and windy weather.
If I were to camp only when the weather is good, then I would not have gone anywhere last year!

We have booked to go to Driffield and just checked with the site no snow or rain for 10 days pitches all dry.OH says we are going it will be fun and its warmer there than it is at home, i am still undecided cause we have a tent! it may just be too cold, although we do have a heater and the dog to keep us warm .
We're off to Somerset, not quite Exmoor but close enough! The night time lows are forecast to be minus 5, but our new van is 4 season -Hymer, so hopefully will be toasty warm :) We're towing with a Toyota 4x4 and at the moment, no snows expected for the weekend bit you never know...
