Greg, I have a very tight budget and I would never, ever stay on a Haven site again!!
Hi,
Well thanks for the tip ,can't remember if I have ever used a Haven but as I say the Parkdean at West Bay suited our purpose for my fishing.
I would use that site again.
Be interested in what issues you and Mrs B had with the Haven sites.
Regards,
Greg

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
To be honest Mrs Bonce, only once in last 3 years i have come across this at a Haven, and that was on a BH weekend.
And i have also come across this on a CS in Derbyshire more than once in the same period, over a normal weekend.
Oh well, we will continue to use our CLs and CSs. The woman who runs the site we are going to at Christmas apologised on the phone "I might have to put you on the top field on your own". We like that !

In the C&CC
Joined because i like the CS sites, some great sites up to £15 a night on hard standing in the winter.
£10 in summer on grass, both with electric.
As for main sites, what i would pay with the C&CC for a weekend i can get Haven for 6 nights, so when taking grand kid away we go to Haven
(not everyones cup of tea i know)
Booked 17 nights with them in 2017 toal cost £253, works out £14.80 a night all in.
for up to a party of six
And you can spread the payments if that helps you.
i with you ray regarding haven sites we use them as a base and explore the area you can get really good bargins ive booked thornwick bay park next year for the whole of june (30) nights grass pitch and hook up for only £199
Hi Lynn & Ray
We were there first week October this year, 7 nights £60
Great site, bay is lovely.
Bridlington is great, and as you go out of the site, a couple mile down the road is a large hall, you can get a road train from there into brid.
Ideal place to explore to the north as well.
We have booked again, 7 nights 2nd week Sept 17 for £58 Hard Standing serviced pitch.
We met a couple from Liverpool in a motorhome, at Cleethorpes this year. and they stayed for same price on euro pitch for the whole of June, and not been home since March, because Haven ring them for last min pitches.
As i have stated before not everyones cup of tea, but bargains are to be had via Haven and other major parks.
Compared to CC & CCC main club sites, with a lot less to offer.
------------- Cheers
Ray

Sorry, Greg, missed this. It was quite some years ago, we stayed so things may have changed but we had a very cramped pitch for a four man vis-a-vis tent and everyone else was pitched very closely. I just found it very uncomfortable all being tightly packed and hearing all the conversations from neighbours. I won't say they were exceptionally loud, just too close. There were a lot of kids running around unsupervised.

Hi Jade,
Well that's a good enough reason for you to dislike them.
Having said that, perhaps not all their sites are like that and for the likes of Ray and Lynn and Ray it suits their purpose.
We all have different needs when we go away.
As I said previously ,I believe Parkedean is run on similar lines and I would use the West Bay site again.Certainly at some of the rates they have offered.
Seasons greetings,
Greg
Hi Greg, Jade
As i have stated, we like haven euro pitches and find them good.
When we go to Cornwall next year on a grass pitch, i feel that we may be sandwiched in, but at £150 for 7 nights, works out at £21.50 a night, for up to 6 people, in july i am willing to take that risk.
I cant get that price at any major club site.
As stated before, on CS sites i have had a hell of a weekend with balls smashing against the van. (Cricket Ball) Threatened to put the bat where the sun don't shine, as it was the Dad full of beer messing around not the kids. And noise levels after 10pm.
Dont get me wrong i still go to the same CS, if the wrong crowd is on, then you have to put up with it, the same as many major sites.
As the saying goes, you can pick your friends, but not your neighbours

Hi Ray,
Well last year we had a nightmare on a well run site by people cutting across our pitch.
Banging their toilet cassettes against my van when squeezing through a gap between my mates free standing awning.
We had the wifes ragdoll cat with us laying in the window.,a women started tapping the window every time she came past, which was unbelievable
I take your point that it can happen anywhere.
Seasons greetings and happy camping next year,
Greg

We are members of both clubs because we too love a particular C&CC site in Keswick.
We often stay at CLs fir £15 per night or less and that includes electric.
I would definitely join the CC.
Back to OP, and someone's very valid point about CC and tents. Brora CC only takes tents if you've arrived under your own steam (walking, cycling) not if you've driven there. Other sites don't take tents at all.
Ifyou use a tent for your camping, C&CC is the better club - if you choose to join a club at all.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
