Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
i live in Devon - about 5 mins from junctions 27 and 28.
At the moment the worst problem coming in to Devon we find is on the Taunton to Wellington stretch of M5 near Taunton Deane services. Going down to 1 lane in both directions - long term roadworks, worst seems to be going northbound.
Try to avoid peak times, but if you cannot avoid make sure you have some water in the car - especially in this hot weather
Just got back from a week in North Devon (Damage Barton & Cloud Farm).
Barnstaple is a bit of a nightmare and would advise to avoid it.
I would suggest for going to Stowford Farm taking the A361, then going on the A399, turning near South Molton. It is signposted as missing all of the Barnstaple traffic.
Hope you have a good holiday and the journey is hassle free.
Thanks for the response ShirleyJane - Have you actually travelled the A399? I ask because I have been advised to avoid it as it's not suitable for caravans and wondered whether I should try it.
Thanks

I always use this road when towing the van, and would never go through Barnstaple. It is a bit windy but not too bad on the whole, just take it easy - Its better than sitting in Barnstaple for a couple of hours!
