Just read through it all and would agree with the general feeling that a person's attitude and tone will pretty much 99% influence any situation ... 'aint what you say, it's the way it's said ...

I bet you asked where you should go before you pitched up though......
That I believe is the crux of the problem....and you have hit the nail on the head.
That is the crux of the problem, but what are you supposed to do when you arrive at a campsite and the reception is unmanned with no indication to when the owner will be back? Just a 'back in 30mins' note would suffice or even a mobile number to ring. I know the coast of Norfolk is not the most advanced of areas - but they do have mobiles!
The crux is the 'family friendly' aspect. Its unfair to expect your children to hang around in a car for an indefinite amount of time after a long journey while the owners appear at a time to suit them. I applicate it must be a very busy job at this time of year and they have other things to attend to, but to leave no indication to when or if we would be able to have our pitch (Pre-booked the day before I might add) put our group in a very difficult situation.
Even after they gave up waiting and pitched up (without the awning etc) we still returned 4 or 5 times over the next 30 mins to see if the office was manned and when we could eventually book in, the offer was made to move if we need to. Nothing was said!
To then ask us to leave claiming we had been 'discourteous' not to wait to be given a pitch (a good hour later) after a complaint from a static caravan owner was received that one of our children was crying is disgraceful. To dress it up with the implication that our children were being disruptive is totally unacceptable and the Golden Beach Holiday Centre at Sea Palling failed us as a family.
Anyway, we found a good site up the road and had a nice time! They didn't throw us off.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

I've just been reading this thread with curiousity as we also stayed at the Golden Beach for a week last month and to be honest the owners were really friendly and helpful - they even went out their way to find us an electric lead as we had forgot ours. There were plenty of children on the site (including our 7 yr old son) who were all playing together and not one complaint was made either by other campers or the owners - I guess it goes to show how different experiences can be!
I bet you asked where you should go before you pitched up though......
I found the other thread posted by the other family involved, and to be honest if that amount of bolshieness was used face to face with the campsite owners then I'm not totally surprised they were asked to leave. If I was standing on my own property and someone called me bonkers to run it the way I chose....a not unreasonable or unusual way either....I think I'd be asking them to leave too.
Just my opinion though.....
Any chance of a link or what section it's in please?, i can't find it
At the start of my last 2 week holiday we got to the site and were told where our pitch was , booked 2 months ahead, to find that someone had set up on it. This was at 2pm in the afternoon. The campsite owner tried many tiimes to get in touch on mobile but it is a bad reception area and eventually the couple turned up at 6.30. They were very apologetic and we helped them move but it put me really behind with every thing and as my tent was far too heavy for me to put up on my own my son in law had to stay all afternoon and part of the evening to help me.. Not the end of the world but a poor start and frustrating. As a coincidence to one of the above topics a red haired child who was in our party then had screaming tantrums just about on the hour every hour for the next 4 days, felt very sorry for fellow campers as the noise level was horrific, felt very sorry for myself too. My apologies to every one at Knights Stainforth in August. PamJ
