this has nothing to do with where the bedroom is but more to do with where the door is. in this country you are not supposed to have 2 caravan doors facing each other - exceptions are
1) group bookings then they can face each other
2) distance appart if over certain distances then its ok

I have never seen a rule that says you shouldn't have 2 caravan doors facing each other. It certainly isn't a Caravan Club rule. I would be interested to know the source of this info. The Caravan Club certainly specify distances between units, but I think Commercial sites have more flexibility as they are not bound by these rules - unless the local licensing authority specifies in particular cases. We stayed one one commercial site in Kent last year where the distance between the front of our awning and the back of the van on the next pitch was only approximately 1 metre - the car being parked in front of the van. In the following picture (which was taken while the adjacent pitch was empty) you can see where the back of the next door van had to go - the tarmac bit in the bottom left of the picture. It was really poor IMHO. Am I being fussy here?
Our Adria is always pitched with our door facing the door of the caravan pitched next to us as our door is on the right. On the other side, of course, the caravan will be side on the us but not with their door side We nearly always use CC sites and always pitch caravan/awning/car and have NEVER been told to move anything! My question was about the caravan being pitched 'backwards' which was what the OP had done with his motorhome!
So in that case, in order for our Adria to comply with this rule, we will need to pitch our caravan 'nose first' which would not be acceptable in terms of an emergency evacuation of a site! Also with a caravan with a fixed bed at the front with no window layout, it would have to be pitched with the lounge window facing the back of the pitch? There are 2 Adria mdels that have this layout that we would like!
We use a local CC site a lot, if we are on some pitches which look out over the fields, we put the van in nose first so we look out over the view! (On our van the bathroom is at the back).
Never had any problems with the wardens , they are great.

2 doors facing - its comes under the 'privacy laws' and is on our site license issued by the council.
I wonder then, if this is stipulated by the local licensing authority, it is the reason why the CC do not stipulate it in their rules - if the interpretation and requirements vary from one local authority to another - this is one reason, perhaps, why it differs considerably from one site to another. Or is it a case, like our front garden. Our deeds say that our front garden should be kept green i.e. grass, but so many have now used block paving, gravel etc., it would be difficult for them to enforce it now. Things change but laws/rules don't always?
Thanks for that info. Ang/Ken. Interesting.

I know that I'm repeating myself on this but the wardens in question were adamant that you were required to reverse on to the pitch,on all club sites...due to "club rules"! ...Even tho' in our case it would have meant the habitation door on our MH facing the door of the next van!
..and once again, there wasn't a problem of where we'd pitched(distances from next van etc)but which way around I'd parked!
I didn't want to name the site in question but as "The Club" havn't had the courtesy the respond, then I will..it was the Uttoxetter Racecourse site..it'd be interesting to know if any other people have had "issues" at that site....
I know this isn't a major issue...just it's very disappointing,with the lack of response..
Unfortunatley,I'd be "cutting my nose off,to spite my face",if we cancelled our subs..as they wouldn't miss our 30odd quid but we'd miss being able to use the sites!
We have not long been back from Uttoxeter. We had no issues or indeed were we aware of anyone else having problems but they were all reversed in. Even those along the race track where you would have imagined people would have wanted to face the track. Have to say we found the wardens very friendly, particularly the lady, during our stay.

Our TEC Travelking has the fixed bed at the front with the lounge at the back and we have had no problem with CC wardens putting the caravan on the pitch, nose first. Sometimes I mention it to the warden when booking in and sometimes I don't because, to be honest, I don't think that some of the wardens understand what I mean when I tell them that it is a continental caravan with the lounge at the back.

Well, after some 2 months,I've FINALLY had a response from the CC!..not that it was really worth the wait though!
They state the reason for having to reverse onto the pitch at the site in question, (Uttoxeter racecourse)is because it is a small site!?..which it isn't,especially !
..and as I told them,my MH is the same size, which ever way around it's pointing!
..they also say that because the wardens had refused other requests by members to pitch facing the view, that they had to been seen to be acting fairly!!..
So...that's a stupid rule for one...a stupid rule for all then..!
They also made no reference to the fact that the warden told me that reversing onto the pitch is required "..on all CC sites..",something which is obviously not true!
Hopefully the wardens on that site will have learned from their mistake and won't repeat it. They're only human and so not perfect ... unlike caravanners, of course!
------------- * You never know where you're going 'til you get there...
Well,it appears as the reverse-on rule is there to stay at Uttoxeter...
...and as it sounds as though quite a few people wanted to park the other way around and were told "no",then I only hope that they don't place the wardens on a site which really has a view worth seeing!...
