I have used the foristry comision sites often most are basic Hollands wood Brockenhurst Hampshire is a good one it has showers and you can camp in among the trees if you want to but a lot dont have showers Round hill near Brockenhurst is a site on the old airfield plenty of room . the are several sites in the Brockenhurst area in about a ten mile radius some with hook up .

Wareham forest campsite allows you to pitch anywhere within the forest that is part of the general campsite - assuming that this is what you are looking for rather than a wild pitch. As far as I know there are no "open" forests where you can simply pitch where you like - wild camping in general is restricted to certain open moorlands and fell tops. On Dartmoor you can pitch over night if backpacking for instance.
