Were looking for a family friendly campsite in the north east of england, will travel up to the scottish border. We would prefer a site with a pub or club on site or within walking distance, with a park on site and near a beach, as there will be 4 kids going, aged 1, 4, 5 and 6 years, We have already looked at Ord Manor, but they are already fully booked on the dates that we require 25th - 29th April. We are first time campers and didnt realise that camping was so popular that you had to book so far in advance.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you, Jacquie

The site doesn't have a clubhouse but it is opposite the (award winning) beach, with a good choice of pubs around (the New Crown, The Sundial, The Marsden Rattler - which is a converted train!), and is only a ten minute walk from the centre of town. If you like curry, there are loads of restaurants on Ocean Road and a large Asda is only 5 minute drive away.
The site is also next to a large park with a boating lake and there is a reasonable sized funfair opposite that.
Plus, around the area is the Metro Centre, Newcastle Quayside, Beamish museam, and a re-built roman fort within a 10 minute walk of the site.
Come and enjoy South Shields (there is a photo of the beach on my personal gallery)
Carol, Mabon and John and Tracy- dont really fancy going to any haven parks, have been to blue dolphin, haggerston castle and berwick before and we loved them but we want to go somewhere that we have to entertain ourselves and the kids, without the amusements and shows.
Bernie- Love the look of East Ord, but have tried to book and it is fully booked on the dates that we want. But will definetly be trying there in thee summer.
Janis and David- Cant find a link for whitewater park, if you have one could you post it for me please.
Fatlad- That sites a bit close to home for us as we live in North Shields and it is just across the water. Should have said were we were travelling from. But its a place to remember when we want a practice run with our tent before we use it as our garden is too small.
I'm afraid it doesnt tell you a great deal about the site and as far as the pitch sizes and prices are concerned, i guess it would be best to contact the site.
I have seen folding campers there before (they are usually pitched opposite the beach)
I was going to say Bamburgh as well Tracy. It has a bar and restuarant on site and a park, not far to the sea and on site is a outdoor pool, though that may be a bit cold at the mo.
The dunstan hill camping and caravanning club site was really nice and you have the sea there, Craster, but i'm not sure how far it is to a pub. There is a park on site.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
