I'm not looking for a discussion on the pro's and cons of taking dogs camping, I think we all know that's been done.
Just wondering if everyone can share their best dog friendly places, e.g. Sites, beaches, pubs, tourist attractions etc. They are not always very well advertised, and some places say they are and then have no facilities e.g shade, water etc.
Also where to avoid.

Just been to Seadown, Charmouth this weekend, our dog really enjoyed it, theres a dog walk that takes you straight from the site to the beach where he was allowed, didnt see any signs saying they were banned from May at charmouth, but in nearby Lyme Regis they are banned from May. Pubs in the village have beer garden too, so no worries about not being allowed inside pubs if you fancy a meal (as long as the weather is nice!). Also our favourate with the dog is Morte Farm in mortehoe, devon, just on the outskirts of woolacombe, great dog walking area and there is a section of the beach in woolacombe just down the hill where dogs are allowed all year. Most places in both have had lots of water bowls put out for dogs, though we noticed the best place for these is Cornwall generally, anywhere there seems to welcome dogs.
Thanks Pabsy77, I find the same in cornwall, and plenty of poo bins! I found Silversands near kennack Sands realy good, nice walk from park to beach, one side no dogs, other side allows dogs all year. We also found quite a few NT sites that allow dogs
We have just been to Riverside at Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire. Really dog friendly. Virtually everyone there has a dog or two. There are great river walks accessed from the site itself and also a park directly accessed from the site where you can let you dog off the lead to play. The village is friendly and there is a good pet shop should you need anything. Generally a good site. First dog goes free, I think further dogs were about 50p each.

First dog free and second dog 50p, thats more like it. We hav booked a weekend at Kelling Heath and they charge £4 per dog, we have 2 dogs so £8 a night, i think thats taking the pee.
Got to agree with you. I do object to paying for the dog, after all, what does she use? We clean up after her so it's not that, she doesn't use the ehu, not much more water is used when we take her, she doesn't use the loos or showers and definitely doesn't use the swiming pool if we go to a big site - though she would if they'd let her! We're paying £2.50 a night for her over Whitsun, but £4 a dog is extortionate. What a rip off.
Hi Kyms, Web site www.dogfriendlypubs.co.uk is helpful. Nodes Point, Isle of Wight is a nice site for dogs, dog friendly beach right outside the gate (£1 a night for dogs)Kelling Heath is good but a bit pricey at £4. Cayton Village nr. Scarborough has a very big field for the dog walk and you can take them in the nearby pub. We've been to some lovely sites where our dog was welcome, It depends what area you want to be really.
Are you going to Kellingheath this weekend? We are, We will be the people with the Aztec Facon and stupid yellow Labrador! Lets hope the weather holds

Not at Kelling this weekend, The next time we are there is the last weekend of June/ early July, if you are there then let us know and we could walk the dogs, perhaps take them to the pool for a swim. LOL.
Some friends enquired about Kelling the last weekend of May and was quoted £75 for 2 nights camping, well steep prices, Dogs went up to £5 for the night per dog. What a rip off.

I am not just interested for mysef, I thought it maybe useful for most people with a dog, sometimes the `dog friendly` listings on google aren't really that friendly. I have seen the Eden Project listed as dog friendy (not on Eden Projects own site) yet dogs are not permitted inside the Eden Project and the only facilities for dogs is a wooden car shelter, there is no way I would ever consider leaving my dogs all day in the car, wooden sheter or not!
That does sound expensive, we are paying £38 this weekend for Sat & Sun night with 1 dog 4 adult 2 chidren (under 2), electric hook up and an extra car, I didn't think that was too bad.
As for the pool, from what I've read we woud have to get there really early, it's a one in one out policy, maybe if we fill it with dogs we can keep out the others LOL (Fred, my dog, is a really good swimmer, he does hydrotherapy for his hip dysplasia)

Spiers House - Forest Holidays site nr Pickering is FAB for dogs you are right in the forest and most people on site have dogs. Lots of marked guided walks although I would be wary about believing the distances stated!
We recently stayed in the New Forest at the Red Shoot site and while the site facillities are no better for dogs than anywhere else the New Forest area is doggy walking heaven.
The site is in the heart of the forest so just step foot outside the gate and go wherever the fancy takes you, and the Red Shoot pub at the entrance is a great place to eat and drink with your 4 legged friend (they even have a bowl of dog buiscuits on the bar)
