Passed through this area many times on M74. We are thinking of going up there this Bank Holiday. If the weather looks good, we'll be going in a tent. If the weather looks 'iffy' - caravan. Anyone got any info on campsites etc. Doesn't seem to be alot on the internet about the area.

Looking for something quiet with views, if poss. Any inf. would be appreciated.

Stay well away from Craigielands Country Park at Beattock. It was the most miserable site we have ever been to. The fishing lake was surrounded by mud & there was broken concrete, rubbish  & empty cans in a heap on the site. The pitches were cinder & the shower block indescribable. We'd booked for a few nights, but left early losing what we'd paid, but it was worth it. Forgot to mention the frequent trains running at the bottom of the site.

Moffat C&CC sit is lovely, nice & clean & quiet. 

Hi Dont know much about the sites as i stay in Dumfries dont really go to Moffat eith van but as said it is a lovely place the only thing i would say is dont go to the site at crawford as it is for travellers on one side and lorry park next to touring site so about 40 lorries starting at 5 am
