Having done my normal trick and left booking for the weekend until the last minute, (and dont talk to me about Bank Holiday weekend) I got to thinking. Wouldnt it be lovely if we could have a fixed topic where sites could post their last minute vacancies. It would probably take far too long to set up and would need the cooperation of lots of sites but I can dream cant I.....

Many thanks for the suggestion. However the only time I have used a Caravan Club site was in Brighton in 2005. We were pitched in a tent on what seemed like the side of a mountain almost in the next town and werent allowed an electric hook up despite asking for one. We were also not allowed to park beside the tent, not even to unload. In addition to all of this, the toilets (all of them at the same time) were locked from 10 to 12 each day for cleaning and the site managers were (being polite) eccentric to say the least. Their pricing policy seemed to be "think of a number and either add or subtract a bit depending on how they liked the look of you" Needless to say, it has put us off of Caravan Club Sites.
