If the reviews are bad, then its usaully BAD! If you have had a last minute booking and its empty, then usually theres a reason. 2 + 2 and all that!
Good Luck

Sorry, forgot to mention I love Loch Lomond! Next to the loch, take your midge repellent!

What about Luss camp site? I know peolpe who have stayed there and loved it. We know the area as we used to travel past here all the time to get to Glasgow.
Lomond Woods used to take tents and was fab,but sadly they do not accept tents anymore.

We've stayed here and had great time. It's not on the Loch but it is nearby. It has a lovely little woodland stream with a series of chattering waterfalls. We paid £40 a night for a wigwam that slept for so a tenner a head.
Re the midges, get yourself some Avon Skin so Soft. It works and the SAS use it.

Hiya, We went to Ballach which is right at the southern end of Loch Lomond, we went at Easter and thought it was fantastic. The site was called Lomond Woods, 5 mins walk to the shore and visitors centre, with shops, T I centre, farmers and french market, boat and bike hire, cafes, sea life centre. The village of Ballach is 5 mins walk away, Indian, Chinese, Italian, Chippy, Co op store, direct rail route to Glasgow. Macdonalds is on the doorstop, (we did not go), the site was lovely - however and a big however, I dont know if they have a tent area? Its worth a look though...

Its Luss for me, this is truely a great site, right on the banks of the loch, with its own beech.

Shirley+Steve
love your spelling of Balloch as Ballach cos thats the way the locals pronounce it. I lived there before moving to Carlisle.

The C&CC site (Malarochy Bay) is nice. Stayed there Easter 2006. I'ts also on the West Highland Route if you like walking.
First 6 pics are taken from the immediate area south of the site, 7 and 8 from the Camp site itself. Sorry, can't find the pics of the site itself yet.
