We're off to Clumber Park for a long weekend and the weather looks ropey so we've packed the monopoly, got loads of CDs, plenty of nibbles and beer.  Has anybody got any good ideas for entertaining the kids when the weather is typically British?

depends how old the kids are??  How about swimming, hand held video games, kids board games, cards, colouring etc.  All depends on ages of children

Take their wellies and raincoats. There are loads of great walks and areas to explore and i am sure the kids would be in their element even if its wet and windy.

I agree with Bill the Bus. Its only water you know, kids don't melt in it. In fact they love it. Good raincoat and wellies and away to go folks....slish splash.

I know this might sound a bit old fasioned but my 7  year old loves it when it rains & we're away 'cos he gets read some stories. Normally one the first things he wants to pack when we're going is some books. At the mo he's really into the Horrible Histories series but any good childrens book keeps him happy.

Pens & paper always a winner & when we go out in the rain he always tries to find some interesting stones or pebbles. then draws on them in the caravan making dinosaurs, monsters etc etc. keeps him going for ages.

Old fashioned, but the game of Chinese checkers is loved by our kids (10, 8, and 5). Up to 6 people can play, easy to learn (hard to cheat), and it's one of those games that an adult can enjoy playing with kids....unlike a lot of 'kids' games which might be a bit painful after the third game...Hungry Hippos anyone?
