theres no camping allowed on holy island at all.berwick and bamburg are close to it.theres not a lot on holy island,nice place for a visit but not much there really.nice surrounding areas bamburgh,berwick,seahouses etc
Holly Island is beautiful. Take note of the crossing times and do NOT attempt to cross outside of them. The causeway fills up in seconds once the tide comes in. You can walk around much of the island, but most of it is a nature reserve, so you need to stick to the footpaths. There is a hotel and a couple of pubs doing food, so you can make a day of it. I've stayed there a few times, but no camping I'm afraid. I lived in Warren Mill when I was a little boy, and although I have not stayed at the campsite, it looks great. Belford is the nearest town, and it is charming, Warkworth is beautifull - walk along the river to the beach - almost nobody who goes there realises that there is a beach only ten minutes walk from the village - so you get a beautiful bay without any crowds, often to yourself in fact. 65 miles of sand dunes from the river Blyth to Berwick upon Tweed. All yours.....

We've just got back from 2 weeks touring from Cornwall to Scotland. We managed a 2 night stay at Berwick-Upon-Tweed - Seaview Caravan Club site, that overlooks the sea/river/bridges and town. Fab views. They say there are views of Holy Island from the site but the 2 days we were there is was very misty/cloudy so we couldn't see it!The wardens are very helpful and have tide times up in the information room for visiting Holy Island.
I would highly recommend this site (if you're not CC members you can join when you get there if you want to!). I'll be adding a review when I get around to it.
Enjoy Holy Island. We didn't get time to visit during this trip but we'll definitely go back sometime.

Hi there. I agree with others, Warren Mill is supposed to be lovely and close enough to both Alnwick (which is well worth visiting for Castle, gardens etc) and also near to Berwick. Warren Mill is in a nice location and close to Seahouses and Bamburgh (which also has a fantastic castle which is built right next to the beach and is really beautiful.) Wherever you end up staying, you are bound to thoroughly enjoy yourself. Prepare to be amazed, Northumberland is stunning! Enjoy your holiday.
