Hi Scarletsfan,

There was a thread about Arran a short while ago.  I might be on the searches.

I put a review on the Lochranza site, as we had visited Arran last summer though not to stay and had gone past the site.

Quite like the look of Seal Shore.

Is the beach safe for swimming? and is the water suitable for my boys (12 & 15) in Kayaks?

Also how much was the ferry over?

The ferry from Ardrossan to Brodrick is £53 return for the car and £8.75 per person.

It's several years since we visited Arran but we're going this weekend to start our Hebridean trip. Arran then across to Kintyre and up to Oban then across to Barra, Up to Stornoway then across to Ullapool going to take a month.

we are going to Lochranza in a couple of weeks .. never been to Arran before but taking the punge as everyone we know who has been has told us we will love it :)) Selected Lochranza from the great reviews on this site -- thanks guys. Also felt it may be a touch quieter in the North and close to the distillary which is a bonus !!

Plan to do plenty of walking and wildlife watching (if we are lucky) - Ferry with 20ft caravan cost total of 208.00 return.
