Me and a group of a about eight to ten other Dads go camping annually with sons and daughters (ages 7-14) in a group. We are looking for a farm/campsite in or around the New Forest where we can have a beer, chat, laugh out loud and sit out til late whilst the kids run about and play ball games etc., but it must be a farm or campsite where we will not have to worry about disturbing other campers/caravaners.

Basic or wild camping would be fine.

If anyone can help we would be really grateful!

Hi Ive recently been looking into most of the sites available around the New Forest area as we are going at the end of July.  I have read all the site details and reviews etc and have to say I dont think there is a campsite like the one you want.  Most of them have noise curfews and make this one of their good points when selling themselves.  I have done a link to all the New Forest sites for you to look into like I did.  Hope you find one.

We love Roundhill near Brockenhurst in the New Forest (sorry don't know how to link to the listing).

Its very basic and not everyone's cup of tea - no showers but toilets and wash basin cubicles in portacabin type buildings.  We've been there for the last few years with four or five other families.  Its a huge open site and you can pick where you want to pitch - if there's a large group of you there shouldn't be too much of a problem to find a spot with room for you all - perhaps a bit away from other campers if you're worried about noise.  I wouldn't say there is no noise curfew but when we've been its fairly relaxed.  The children absolutely love it there.

Also try Longbeech campsite in the forest. It has little or no facilities but it doesnt get very busy and has loads of nooks and crannies to camp in.

Unfortunately wild camping is not allowed at all in the new forest.  There is a small exception for D of E groups and they are limited to one team in a selected area, well away from paths / roads and still have to get permission from the forestry commission for that!

Your best bet are the forestry comission sites outside of the busiest times or some of the small privately owned campsites.

Hope that helps
