Hi there

Can anyone recommend a campsite in the Lake District which has reasonably close access to a lake, other than Parkfoot or the site along the road from it.

Herdwick Croft is near Bassenthwaite, if that's any help. The site is fine for caravans but not sure about tents, might be a long way from the loos.

Low wray on the shores on Windermere - it's a National Trust site also the club site at Keswick is on the shore of Derwent, it can flood though !!!

Hi Prent, We stopped here not long ago http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=Gillside+farm&by=sitename

Great base for walking and the base of Ullswater - Picture on my gallery. Only half a mile of the lake, good clean site, good local pub and loads going on on the lake. plenty to climb and walk aswell. Dont go high season, unless you like not sleeping!

Thanks for your help folks, read the reviews on them all and might try the Gillside one. My son's only criteria for a campsite is that it must be at a lake!
