Was ther 2 years ago, really enjoyed it. Beach is within walking distance, nice large pitches, toilets/showers clean. Has an indoor swimming pool but will be charged for this.
Friends of ours have been going to Ruda for years. They like that it is close to the beach and the indoor waterpark but say that the shower/ toilet facilities have never been updated and are either freezing or boiling and very draughty.
The touring facilities ( Croyde Burrows ) are fairly new and are warm and clean, however the camping part of Ruda has old shower blocks and a couple do not have a roof!

Hiya have just come back from Ruda, First impressions very shabby , had to request another pitch for the tent, the toilets were aslways dirty , even after cleaning, never any toilet roll, they deffo dont really bother with the ppl camping in tents etc, more looked after if you are in a caravan. All very jam packed in too.
The entertainment of an evening was very good, that sure made up for the disapointment, beach within a few minutes walking distance, excellent.
Overall the holiday was lovely, personally think they need to spend a little more money for the "Happy Campers" Not the best site I have been too by far.
oh we like it we had to go in atent as we wrote our caravan off on the waythere but we werent hurt so we wnt the next day they put us on the same pitch which was good of them we said we wud go back as its good marie

So sorry to hear about your caravan, glad you were all ok though. pleased you like the site too , we are off on Saturday for 15 nights with 3 other families, our children are so excited, especially the boys as they are 10 whilst we are there!! Hope the weather is going to be kind to us too. Amanda
Just returned from 3 "midweek" nights at Ruda Campsite (August 6th - 9th) with 7 adults, 2 teenagers, 7 year old, 4 under 6 & 12 month boy. Recommended by business partner who had been there 3 times. Within minutes of arrival, were already planning longer stay next year. Stunning location overlooking sandy Croyde Bay, 5mins walk from site. Kids loved the sand dunes & rock pools. Took 3 unserviced pitches & 4 cars total cost around £16 per night for us all. Picked a good few days weather wise. Very clean & well maintained site mixing statics & lodges with tents. Very clean, modern hot showers (too hot some days). Toilets clean but with open plan roof in centre.Odd, but works somehow. Large playground on site. Very busy site but large pitches so not too crowded. Not too loud at night, but told weekends can be different. Very much surfer paradise. Has small "Cascades" pool open to public. They tried to get us to buy pre-booked tickets when paying pitch deposit saying it would be £3.50 per person per hour if paying on the day. Residents get passes which get them in for £1.30 for the hour. Only complaint we all had on day one was the in house chippy which even the kids did not want to eat the soggy battered sausage & stewed nuggets!
Hi Maria 35, Went last year lovely weather not like this year which does not help camping hols. This site since Parkdean took over from the two brothers who owned it they would not let in to the site singles. The toilets was cleaned better early in the morning. The good thing about the site is its really close to the beach and has lots of showers/toilets (see J/Fowler) unlike the one I went to this year and never again was J.Fowler widemouth bay. Crodye village is easy walking distance, good pubs, food etc.
Hi Maria 35 again, Few other things about Ruda. The security last year was round the clock and can be seen in the hut opposite the main entrance. Do you have children? They have a good kids club 3-15. Fish and chips etc take-away bit slow. There are 2 blocks main showers/toilets/washing-up.Last year they had life guards on the beach. Ice cream kiosk on the beach and just before.
I have been to Ruda a few times with the last time being under a year ago, and i think it was a fantastic place to go. The beach is within walking distance, and there is a small village which you can walk to aswell.
If you are interested in entertainment then they have a different show on everynight, there is a swimming pool, which is a nice size. Overall i think you will have a great time!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
