I am looking 4 this campsite that I went to as a child and despite alot of searching I cant find it - due to go into hospital soon and want to go there before.
Not alot to go on but this is what I remember
near frensham ponds/ farnham surrey area, had a golf course next to it, had to drive down a gravel path to get to it, had no hook ups or toilets, was basically one field with horses in the next field and a walk down a short path to the local pub with food and garden think there may have been a stream nearby and frensham ponds was not to far away, may have been a camping club site .
luved it as a kid and would love to go again. Know its a long shot but if u can help would be great. It may not even exist anymore or turned into one of them there all singing and dancin places. Or do u know of a site nearish frensham ponds?
cheers sam

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Sam, I don't know that area, so it is unlikely that I shall be able to help, but can you give us some clue as to how long ago you were a kid? Are we talking about the 1950s or the 1980s or what? I'm sure that might help a few people to come up with suggestions!
thanks so much 4 your replies. I loved this site. Im 37 now so i guess in the 1970s early 80's we went. Now I want to take my own children there. Tilford sounds familiar as does the duke pub I vageuly remember my dad saying "right were off to the duke now" Thanks again might be able to put the parts of the puzzle together and find it. I even tryed to recognise it by ariel maps of the area but it a big area. maybe find the pub then find the campsite - will go on findapub.com if there is such a website!!!!
cheers to chrisie and jfdiyes for your help

The pub was possibly either the Duke of York or Duke of Cambridge.
It was a Gales pub & was on Elstead / Binstead (or summat like it!) Road.
It's no longer a Gales Pub & different name too - assuming it's still there.
Also - there used to be some camping available in Alice Holt Forest. Wasn't that, was it?
A
PS - Had a late call from my pal last night (that woke me up!) as she'd just been talking to her Dad about round there. Trouble is you don't pay much attention - as a kid - to where you grow up (her words!). She was at the Pub in the mid 1980's - so maybe they'd put EHU in by then?
It was the duke of cambridge pub in tilford--- funny thing is I entered the postcode GU10 2dd on google maps and viwed an areil /satelite picture of the area and paned south and there was a golf course and a field that looked like it had touring cavarans etc. So phoned pub and he said that it was now a complex of log cabbins and no touring places . So the google maps must be out of date. I will probably go to another campsite in the area.
Anyway thanks again for your replies and your assistance in solving my puzzle its nice to know that there are people willing to help others just because they can.
