While browsing for a site for our holidays i came across a site that charges £8 off peak, £10 peak and £12 bank holidays. Now that price is per night which you may think is pretty fair as it includes a 5 amp hook up and awning.

That price is per person per night aged over 2 years old.

I sent an email to check it was not a missprint and they confirmed the prices are correct. Needless to say they did not get my booking

This 1 would cost you £48 per night with a minimum of 4 nights. £192 by my reckoning. There must be people out there paying it tho.

That would cost us either £30 or £40 per night depending on whether Richard came or not.   Then no doubt there would be some added extras.

Some sites are really beginning to take the p*ss.
I don't mind paying a fair price, and for some extras, after all I appreciate that sites have huge overheads, but £40 per night is a little expensive for a tent pitch.

Thats what we were saying...........we won't........I dont mind paying a reasonable sum. But it just seems they (camp sites) are getting good at this minimum nights lark......

"Pool season 21.7.07 to 2.9.07"

Guess it's not heated, then.. brrrrr...!

We've booked a site in the IOW and it has cost £22.50 / night for four of us, and this includes a 10A hookup. We had very nice comms with them (it's a new site and I'm a new camper). The price seems par for the course on the IOW - well, really it's quite competitive, and we've high hopes for a really great holiday. The augers are good!

It seems like many of the popular sites (or those in popular locations) seem to be putting their prices up. But you can see why they insist on minimum nights. Imagine if you only stayed a night over a bank holiday, how would they fill the pitch for the next night?

I think it's fair enough. After all, they are open about it, so you have the choice to book or go elsewhere. You never know, you may discover a brilliant site that otherwise you might not have considered before!

Wild camping... hmmm.... maybe not just yet...

And my brother wonders why we go to France every year for our main Holiday, Just had three weeks there in June and we were on five different sites and the most we paid was £14 per night, that's two people having a three week holiday, everything paid for , ie, ferry, site fees, diesel, about £1000, and there sites are far better than our's, not to mention the cheap wine,

We stayed there and thought it was overpriced, overcrowded and shoddy,The owner was adding splitters to electrics and crowding small tents on in the space between pitches ( half on one families pitch and half on another) so close the flysheets were almost touching( god only knows how many would be harmed if there was a fire)

The facilities are dreadful, staff we found to be rude and you could stay at several alternative campsites nearby for far less- several also have far superior facilities.

Same as Kate it would cost us £72 a night!!!!!!!!!! so for a week over Bank holiday would amount to £500. Been looking to book and the average price we've been looking at varies between £150 -£200. Which i think isn't too bad for six and we like the more comercial sites so expect to pay bit more for pool clubhouse etc.
