Apparently there have been a record number of holidays booked for the UK this summer following last years scorcher of a summer. That being the case (and this year being a complete wash-out!) what's the betting there are a record number of overseas holidays booked for summer '08 - thereby leaving plenty of availability here in the UK....
Sorry, but we'll be camping in the South of France - I need at least 2 weeks of sun a year. Watch 2008 be the hottest summer in the UK on record now, LOL

Hi Caddyclan, personally we have had no trouble getting in where we wanted to this year, but have read here about difficulties some have had. Would be great for us campers having plenty of availability as you so rightly say, but could push a lot of sites to close if very limited occupancy.
Oh I do hope you are right and everyone will be going abroad, it will make it easier to book pitches on some of the popular cc sites that you can never get on now. lol.
from what I remember of last year we had a heatwave which ended on the first day of the school holidays & then it rained for 6 weeks - muther nature owes me 6 weeks of sunshine this year as from monday!

we moan when its hot, we moan when its cold, we moan when its wet. when do we moan that it is dry.
if people want to go abroad - let them, i will stick by my tent, i am proud to say that this is my country and i will camp in it no matter what it throws at me, i have never heard anyone say that UKs weather is predictable, if it was i would have more than one rain coat.
sorry, have to agree with bryan-k. we had a gorgeous june and july then within 2 days of the kids breaking up it was either windy or rainy(or both while we were camping) or just overcast. In fact this week has been almost identical to our holiday last year at kessingland. (first full week the kids broke up from school)
We were also on the Isle of Wight last summer holiday & most of the time it was gorgeous weather ,going again on 12th august for 2 weeks so hoping for some of the same. This Friday we are off to Tenby for 4 days to celebrate mine & youngest son's birthday but looks like we might need wetsuits (already packed the wellies!).
Fingers crossed that the weather will improve for you lou bee. We are off to the new forest in a weeks time, we will go whatever the weather so long as the site isn't flooded.
We went to Luxembourg last year for the first 2 weeks of the 6 week holidays and after 4 days of scorching weather, it rained non stop, it even rained all the way home.
So based on last years weather and after the 1000 mile round trip, we are going to Ripley Caravan Park which is only 60 miles away.
My daughter loves it, and rain is rain no matter where you are.
Cheers
Paul
