Hi folks!

I don't seem to be having any luck finding a campsite in Keswick. Being three guys we apparently constitute a group, probably likely to cause trouble!

We go camping twice a year (weather permitting) and have never caused aggro in our lives, but we're really struggling to find a campsite that doesn't have a "no groups" rule.

We can't really be the only group of mates that go camping, surely? If not, where do the rest of you go?

I've been to Keswick before (with one mate so presumably they thought we were a "couple") and loved it and would like to go back. Need a campsite close to town.

Another thing I've noticed with the campsites is that they also seem to have a strange policy of not booking tent pitches in advance. Don't really fancy a 300 mile round trip if we don't know we've got somewhere to stay!

Please advise before I give up.

I've just booked on this site, http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=6098 for me and the wife in August. Just 2 miles from Keswick, short walk from Braithwaite with 3 pubs. No mention of "no groups".

Thanks for the idea - I've written to ask for a brochure.

I can't believe camping is this difficult. I've booked long-haul holidays more quickly and easily than a couple of nights in the Lakes.

That place looks great but is strictly "for families and couples". Which is the problem we seem to be facing everywhere so far.

Last year we rolled up to Burns Farm campsite and they let us stay but didn't seem too happy about it.

Fantastic! I phoned up and they were fine, told them there'd be 3 adults in a tent and they didn't mind at all.

Thanks!
