My partner that I have just booked 3 nights camping at Ocean Edge by Morecombe and then checked reviews after I had paid which basically says don't go? I feel sick with worry as I have 2 kids under the age of 2 and worried I am taking them to hell.
If anybody has stayed there and found it ok, please let me know. I have only been camping once before and just think I am bound to make mistakes.

I didn't see any reviews of the actual camp, a bit surprised. It doesn't sound that bad, not perfect, but not bad. I think since you are going just for 3 days, go and have fun. Looks like they have a play area too. You don't have to go into the clubhouse to have a good time camping. You just have to make the best of it and you will have that with every campsite you go to.
If it were me and my family, I would go. Just make sure you don't automatically look for the faults because of comments on this forum. Those comments are quite old and thing may have changed for the better.
Then post a review when you get back. Best Wishes

Find somewhere else to go? Even if you don`t get a refund (plead family illness/chickenpox/car accident or something) then it`s probably worth losing the cash rather than endure three nights of not feeling happy about where you are.
On the other hand, it might not be that bad. With kids that age you probably will be spending most of your time between your tent and the swingpark anyway.
Thanks for your messages. I am a bit of a worrier and have decided that I will not tell my partner and we can make up our own minds when we get there. Anyway I always make the best of a bad situation and as you all said it might not be that bad.
Awww, don't worry. I'm sure you'll have a lovely time. I've never been there, but its what you make it at the end of the day, everyone's different. What somebody else doesn't like, you might love etc. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Visiting a couple of the lower standard sites early on in your camping experiences makes you appreciate the better ones even more.
Just don't let it put you off if the site isn't to your liking. There are many more great sites than poor ones. Just be a little more selective next time.
Hi Julia
I visited a campsite recently which I thought was absolutely the pits. Expensive and rubble at the back of the pitch, grass not cut, no view, toilets basic. The folk in caravan next door were German and shocked at the standards of the site and I had to reassure them it was not usual.
I have posted a review but not published yet, BUT BUT BUT everyone else gave it very good reviews and said they would go back and liked it a lot. I checked that I had got the same site and it was. Just goes to show that we all like something different and sometimes even the weather or people you meet make a difference.
Don't worry about what you read, you have paid now, it is for 3 nights only and go with an open mind.
Sometimes the events you are dreading turn out the best.
I would still go - after all it is only for three nights, and provided that you are comfortable in you own unit, that is the big bit. Make sure that you take something for the kids to use as a loo - then if the loos are bad they don't need to use them. Adults can put up with worse than kids. Just make sure that you take some loo paper. Oh and if necessary a hygenic wipe. I know that they take a little while to work to full effect, but at least you can wipe the seat. If the showers are that bad then just boil a kettle and have a good wash. I've stayed on one site where the loos/showers should have been condemed. Got there on the Thursday - loos shabby and poorly lit. Two loos, and one shower for the site. No running hot water in the basin - just a dribble of cold. Managed to get a shower Friday morning - nothing to write home about. Later that day a note appeared saying that the shower was out of order. Stayed that way all weekend. We just got washed, and got a shower as soon as we got in.
Now I've just got back from one site, where a couple of reviews moaned about the showers/toilets. They where clean, plenty of hot water etc. OK the floor was a little muddy by the doors, but that was hardly surprising considering that iit rained at some point almost everyday, and the ground at the beginning of the week, when the rain was heavier, was rather muddy in places.
You can always try to have a look around before you book in. And if worse comes to worst and you find that after one night there you can not stay - you can always cut your losses and come home.
Remember there are hundreds more campsite users than there are reviews, so the reviews are really a small section of the people who've used the site. As it is 3 nights and an early experience, go along with some prior knowledge of the area and you may not spend that much time on the site anyway. As already said, you'll be in the park most of the time! We stayed in a site in France once and found it completely different to how their website led us to think, really small and squashed and more packed in than the website showed, plus being quite isolated. Yet we'd only gone there because the reviews on here were so great and they have continued to get good reviews, so it just shows we all like different cups of tea sometimes!

We stayed on a site in Carnforth a few years ago. Some friends of ours go and love it, and so we were convinced to go for a long weekend. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! Thats what my hubby said when he saw the state of the loos and showers.
The loos were full of poo and not cleaned, flies were everywhere and if you braved the shower, you stood on the bare concrete floor, below an open roof and prayed that the spiders did'nt carry you away. And they had the cheek to charge 50p a shower!
The play area was no more than a couple of old wooden pallets knocked together with rusty nails and HUGE staples.
It was the longest long weekend of my life....we left after 2 nights and vowed NEVER to go anywhere with out more than a dozen independent reviews. But......saying that, those friends of our still go and still love it, so it just shows "Different horses for different course!"
I have never visited Ocean Edge, but I do live just north of Morecambe and have 3 kids, one of whom is just 3 and loves Morecambe and the area. They have imported sand to make sandy beaches all along from Heysham through to Morecambe central, so on a nice day, the beach is great for kids/ digging/ playing ball games etc. The sea, when in, is never deep, however not recommended for more than a paddle as there are quick sands and people do still get stuck. Happy Mount Park at the north end of Morecambe prom is great for a sunny afternoon - take swim stuff as they have a splash park which suits all ages, plus plenty of pound coins for little rides on train, trampoline, carousel, indoor play. The area itself is beautiful with wonderful views of the lake district over the bay. Lancaster has a great park called Williamson park, which has butterfly house/small pets park, play area , cafe etc.
Try Fell Foot park at the south end of Windermere (Newby Bridge) for lovely walks along the lake, play area, row boat rental, or take ferry over the lake for steam train rides. Don't despair, you only have to sleep at Ocean Edge (which in anycase may be fine). The area has loads to offer.
This morning I admitted to partner that actual campsite not getting good feedback but I agree with driach that there is lots of places to visit while we are there. The plan is to arrive midday and have a walk around before putting tent up. We can always wash in the tent and we have a porta loo if the toilets are that bad! And it is only 3 nights.
I wouldn`t hold too much faith in other proples reviews, recently there has been a spate of poor reviews not being published or altered from the original review.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
