Polmanter was a great site, we had a walk all around and looked out for you. I think we spotted your tent and car, but not you, in the top field. Do you have a bit of NW reg on your car? The top field facilities were very good, with excellent shower facilities. The lower facilities were not quite so good, with small wet cupboards to keep clothes dry. Nevertheless an excellent site which we would have no problem using again.
We were disappointed with the weather for most of the week, but had a few good trips out. Our eldest loved the pool (in the rain!), and the play area.
The biggest disappointment to us was 3 nights of noise from the adjoining caravan/awning. The first night, visitors in the awning and very loud chat, and shouting at their young kids until way past 11. We let it go, (live and let live) although we could not sleep until it was over. Second night they went to the bar, and returned again with friends at closing time, again in the awning, this time with music. My wife phoned the warden. He was prompt and explained to them that their music and chat was too loud. He encountered resistance to the complaint, in the form of denial, although he had stood outside and heard it. The third night, no visitors, but a blazing row between Mr and Mrs, this went on until beyond 1am. Again this was in the awning and my wife and I could not sleep and could (but won't) give every detail that was being discussed! It was a shouting match. We notified the warden at 1am and suggested he might like to come and listen. He did and assured us that they would be spoken to in the morning. We were told by the manager next day that they were leaving after one more night, so elected to stay on our pitch, although we were offered a chance to re-locate.
I normally turn a blind eye to a bit of noise especially on the first nights, but these 3 days were intolerable and our neighbours should have shown a bit of respect, not only to others, but to themselves (their argument detail!!). I understand they will not be welcome back. Rant over.
We moved on to Wadebridge for week 2 and had a great time with the better weather.
PS My wife has a built in SatNav to locate any M&S, although this one was unmissable.

M&S is right off the A30 next to the travel lodge. you can't miss it.
Neil.
Well if it's been there for more two years I certainly have missed it - and the Travel Lodge as well.
When going to Polmanter, I leave the A30 at the western end of the A30 Hayle By-pass at St Erth and take the main road towards Lelant turning left at the second mini-roundabout. I have no recollection of a big M&S or a Travel Lodge in this area.
Sorry to be such a "div" but can you be more precise. This is really getting to me........
Vic,
Out of St. Ives on to the A30, head towards Redruth. The road climbs a slight hill before you go over the top and head down to a roundabout. Just before the roundabout on your right hand side (left if you are heading towards St Ives)is Hayle Rugby Ground. M & S fills the gap between the roundabout and the Rugby Ground. I checked on live local and the satellite picture shows a field, but I can assure you that M&S jumps out and hits you. You cannot miss it approaching from either way. Must have been built since the satellite photograph. Also there is Next, Boots and Costa Coffee.
Enjoy

so sorry to hear you had nosiy 'dim wits' next to you, we had some a few tents down singing till after 1am on the first night, we did not complain but there was no noise after that so i presume someone else must have had a word with the warden.
As for Elvis he must have return from the grave on your second week? you really did miss a treat, a west country farmer singing Evis!!! well that's what he looked like to me (he was very good).
Do you know, I have never noticed this before. I suppose I've been so pre-occupied with getting to my destination that I've just passed it by. I believe that on a Sunday morning they have a car boot sale on the rugby ground.......
Always wondered why such a big tourist area didn't have an M&S - never thought there was one so close by. Just shows you how wrong you can be.
We'll be looking out for it next year when we go - we love M&S grub for special treats.
My Wife has just reminded me that Sunday Night (our first) was quiet. The noise was on Mon, Tues and Wed. If your noisy tenters were Sunday, perhaps your tenters were our neighbours visitors!!
Vic,
The M&S was brand new, so it probably was not there your last visit. We also did the food treats. Although it is quite prominent, it isn't really very big inside. My Wife was a bit dissappointed as she's used to 3 floors in Bristol. The grub treats were all there though.

That explains everything. I'm not usually so oblivious about what's going on around me. You had me putting it down to a "senior moment"!
