I have only so far been on weekend trips for camping, we are visiting the Two Chimneys campsite in Kent for a week, staying over the bank holiday .... we have EHU and only use a coolbox for perishables ... I have read all the reviews on the site and wondered if anyone has any comments (positive or negative) or suggestions for my trip. Its myself, OH and a 4 n 8 yr going ....
Thanks

hello, i went a few years ago and i think they have updated it quite a bit since i went, i would say back then, it was ok as a base but i wouldnt have wanted to stay there all day. we stayed 2 nights i think, it was our first ever camping trip. people were playing football round our tent, and hitting it. it had a small play park in the corner of the field which was well away from traffic. they have 2 camping fields, one is more sheltered and it has bushes and trees all the way round. each pitch has a numbered slab and you have to pitch your tent with this slab in a certain postion. we were lucky when we went as very few people were there, but i would imagine you could feel like sardines when the site is busy.
the other feild was far more open, and had electricity cables overhead, im glad i wasnt in that field to be honest, no shelter. although the play park was slightly bigger i think.
the shop was useless on site, and sold the most disgusting bread ive ever had the misfortune to eat. (it may have improved, this was 3 years ago!!) but take your own just in case!
the takeaway van was horrible too, but i dont even know if thats still there.
im making it sound terrible. it wasnt, it was "ok" but i wouldnt say it was great, and we have never been back either.
good luck!

sorry, i feel so bad. the pool was still an outdoor pool when we went, now its an indoor pool, so everything else may well have improved too!

Sorry to say this but it was not our type of site. The field was quite big all uniform. It has been the only site we have worried about leaving the tent. Some very unruly people about.Mind it is 3 yrs since we stayed there. We visited before we moved to this area.It was noisy, kids still playing around tents till about midnight with torches.I wouldnt like to stay there for a week.oh dear you could have found lots of other campsites around the are that are so much better.
