We've just had similar at the Haven Lakeland site at Grange Over Sands.
My husband rang them on Wednesday to say we were concerned about the weather, and the woman he spoke to said they'd had a bit of rain, but it would soon dry out. Nevertheless, having seen the forecast, we delayed until Thursday, even though we were booked from Wednesday.
That was a wise decision, because on Wednesday night the heavy rain turned the place into Much Camping on the Marsh. It would have been nice if they'd rung us to let us know this. Instead, they waited till we'd come over 100 miles to say to us when we booked in "The ground's very wet, go and have a look at what you think, and if you're not happy we'll give you a refund".
We did manage to find a non-swampy area (didn't fancy the drive back when the kids were looking forward to camping), next to a family who had been flooded out on another pitch the previous night, and had had to move their tent. Only problem was that it appears that particular area of the site is grass and three inches of soil over some kind of concrete float. Our tent pegs are now tent staples.
I wouldn't recommend Lakeland if there's rain in the offing.
When we went to Merley court in July (another of shorefield's sites) the tent woodland area was also very swamped and families were still turning up to pitch their tent!
I really feel for you. We visited some friends who were staying in a heart charity's static van at Oakdene. We both commented on how flooded it was. Surely they should have contacted you before if they knew it was going to flood again. That is really bad, I hope you get somewhere with your letter.
Some of the C & CC sites down this way actually phoned their members and told them that the sites were going to close because they were waterlogged.

My In Laws have a static there and we stayed in it over Whitsun and the place was awash felt so sorry for everyone there, Shorefield seriously need to sort some sort of drainage out, the meadows is only suitable for dry weather .
We stayed at Oakdene in a Static 2 years ago and the caravan leaked really badly, we complained and got some money back!, you can,t camp there without getting wet and neither can you if you stay in a static. This is one place i would never stay at again, the attitude of the staff was appalling and they were totally disinterested when i informed them water was pouring in through the door and straight in the bedroom!.
I can imagine what care they have when the tent/caravan isn,t theirs!

DanBee, we came home from Lakeland a day early last October, because the ground was flooded - huge puddles everywhere - the site was more puddle than dry.
When we were away at the end of July we had to move pitch because we ended up with a lake in the tent, and this was on a site where some of the reviews had warned of the very sandy soil. A few people were moving pitches that evening. Had no problems on the second pitch, which was only next to the first one- even in heay rain - when our lake reappeared on the pitch we'd moved from. Warned a couple of people not to pitch we we'd been.
Yes I do feel for the site owners, as we have had a lot of rain this summer, and they still need to make a living. But if there is a problem I think that they should 'phone people to warn them. Then people can make their own decisions. I would think more of a site that cancelled my booking, or at least warned me of wet conditions, than one who just let me turn up to find the ground flooded.
