Hi everyone, I know there are loads of threads about campsite in Yorkshire but could some kind people help me out and recommend some sites for me please. I'm looking for good drainage, nice toilets & showers, preferably a shop on-site & fab scenery. We've got kids but prefer a bit of open space instead of a playground that they have to be accompanied to (youngest is 4). We're going with friends who tend to prefer basic sites but I'd secretly prefer something either with a cafe / quiet clubhouse on-site or at least a village right on the doorstep with a pub incase the weather is awful.

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Naburn Lock, York. Picture on our gallery, tent field large, no play area, pub up the road, river taxi into York only meters away, views of lock fantastic, clean shower block with piped music. Go for it.
Wolds Way near Malton is fantastic. Have a look at the reviews, it's got everything you want, and more. The views are to die for, the loos & showers are kept spotless, and there is a family bathroom. There's a shop, a laundry room, a family room with fridge, microwave, coffee machine etc. It's such a lovely site, in my opinion, you can't beat it.
Yep, its fenced off and gated. Look on the camp site search its great. We stopped 3 nights with our 3 young kids and they played allday and night in the large tent field. They only let you pitch around the edge of the field so your kids and you can play in the middle and everyone can watch from there tents. Good fun. Good shop on site. Park and ride into York nearby. Little sainsbury's and aldi 2 mile up the road. Loads for kids in York should the weather turn bad.
Thanks so far. The question about water was for Mick but I read john+caz's (whichever one of you it is!) post straight after so it applied to both sites. All possibles so far.

Riverside Meadows Country Caravan Park, in Ripon is pretty good too. Just a short walk from the centre of Ripon, has a shop and a clubhouse, toilets are cleaned twice daily (and pretty modern) and a few supermarkets around as well as being central for loads of things to see (lightwater valley, York, Harrogate)
Worlds way as Jo says is fantastic, the views and facilities are to die for. The owners are very friendly.
Black Bull at Pickering is another great one, just came back from there today, new toilets and showers, never had to wait for a shower over the bank holiday weekend. The pub next door is great and child friendly.
We have had a look around Golden Square, Helmsley and Cote Ghyll, Osmotherly both of these have fab facilities. Not stayed at them yet but will be doing asap.
Thanks v much for all the suggestions - I'll check them all out. Any more gratefully received of course. This website (and the people on it) are so helpful!

it is so big would be better if you could tell us which part of yorkshire you would like. You could be near the coast or on the moors. I know you won;t be dissapointed which part you decide. Are you wanting to tour yorkshire or make on camp your base camp and tour around it. i live near here and i can tell you that there is no dissapointment waiting for you where ever you go.
I can recommend this site for you; it may meet most of your needs.
For shopping you would need to drive to a supermarket however the site dos have a v small shop.
High Lanings Farm, Dent. Scenery is fantastic, lovely clean facilities, 2 pubs in village and play area in village (not on site) close to a stream for net fishing with kids. Shop on site selling local produce.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
