we stayed at treveor farm last summer £16 a night, mid august and very good. the sea is a good 20 minute walk or 5 min drive, but we refuse to pay £30 or more to be nearer. gorran haven was a 20 min walk and in the other direction port loe, fantastic coastal walking with quality pubs and peace and quiet, apart from the sea noise!!!

Hi steve we stayed at wheal rose at redruth,it is only 2 miles from porthtowan beach with excellent surfing. It was quite reasonable last year £16 per night, you can walk to a pub, also there is a disused tramway you can cycle to the beach. They have a small outdoor pool and orgainise a weekly B.B.Q which was good fun and place to natter with other campers, showers and toilets very good. You can find them on the campsite search and read the reviews, highly reccomended.
We have just stayed in a cottage at redruth and had a look at wheal rose whilst we were there, looked a good site and one we are considering but we were looking for one that the teenage kids could go down onto the beach on their own.The beach at Portowan looked good but not sure how bad the parking would be in summer.
Parking was never a problem,we were there with our 2 sons and their families we were all able to park no probs, lots of times we got free parking.Porth chapel is another good beach close by.

Try magic cove at mawgen porth, small site very clean shower block, and only about 3min walk to a lovely beach, not sure if it would be too quiet for teens if the weather was bad though. Penny.
