brand new to carvanning and we had our first night away at the weekend at a site in north yorkshire. we want to go away approx every other weekend and want to know if anyone knows of any sites that are open all year where we could pitch our carvan so we can visit as when we want over the coming months, do any sites in north yorkshire work like this or are we better to put the van into storage and access it as and when we want it?
sorry if this seems like a stupid question but we are brand new to caravanning so any advice would be gratefully received!!

Hi first of all welcome to the site. We had a seasonal pitch for 2yrs and found it very convenient at the time. We had a pitch at a popular site in north yorkshire but what a mistake we made. We were charged £1200 a year, lucky enough we had our own shower but to use the ones on sight was still a fee off 50p a time extra on top plus had to pay for the electric. One day the site manager informed us that we had to move the van amongst some old statics as he wanted our pitch to put a brand new luxury static. We had handed the £1200 over for the start of the new season and had only stayed there 2 weekends . We asked them if we had any say in the matter and was replied with an abrupt no!!!!!!!!!!!. We then asked if there was any chance for a refund the reply was yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but under his terms as you can imagine it was going to be a stupid price. So we basically kept the vans there for a storage base after all we had give the greedy man all our hard earned money. In a way he done us a favour because we discovered touring and have visited some wonderfull places and met some really nice people. In our eyes once bitten twice shy we definatley wouldnt go seasonal again and loose a lot of money the way we did.
thanks for sharing your experience scooby64 and for welcoming me to the site! it looks like it would be much cheaper for us to store with a local firm - they only want £120 for 6 months and its only a few miles from where we live so dont suppose it will be too much hassle to just collect it as and when we want to go away. and yes you are right about seeing different places rather than just being on one site,
is there one on the industrial estate? this one i was thinking of is in eaglescliffe - allens west i think? i just saw it in one of the local papers but if you know of one on the industrial estate can you let me know the details cos that would be ideal

I dont use it i keep mine on the drive outside. My sis in law who we go away with uses the one on the industrial estate it is where the old heritage hampers used to be its now called vectas the auctioneers now i think she pays 250 for the year but honestly i had a shock just how little space they have they are squashed inlike sardines. I have to go and walk my yorkie now he ready for bed lol will speak again.
oh well thanks a lot for that i will check it out as an option - enjoy your walk - i have 2 yorkies! but i am being lazy tonight! will take them out tomorrow they are a bit shook up with all the fireworks yes speak again
