Unfortunatly my wife died last christmas eve the problem I have is I love caravaning as we both did. but my problem is where to go by myself. I have heard that single elderly men (I'm 60) are not usually liked on some sites. We both use to love walking and loved the Lakes and North Wales if any one could help me out with some advice I would be grateful.

We often have single people on site, but find that because the majority of caravanners & campers are all such a friendly lot they talk to everyone. Must admit ive never heard of a site stating no single people but some sites do bring in such silly rules at times that it wouldnt surprise me at all. Look around, join one of the clubs or rallies - you are sure to make friends
I am sure you would be made very welcome on any get together weekends, I grew up in Coppull Near Chorley and we where part of the Trailer Caravan Club that meet every few weekends in the North west, Lakes and virtually with 100 miles radius. It probably will feel difficult going alone, but I am sure you will soon make loads of new friends. Good luck to you.

I agree with the other replies, the Caravan Club and Camping and Caravan Club Sites would not find it unusual to have a single person on site.
I expect it would be a challenge the first time out on your own but a meet could perhaps make it a little easier for you.
This may sound daft Dennis but have you got a dog? People always seem to talk to you when you have a cannine companion,we have found people aways stop to chat when we have the dog with us!
I do hope you take the plunge and go out with the caravan on your own,we have met several (more mature, not elderly!) people on camp sites,if they want a chat and a cuppa we have made them welcome or some just want to enjoy their own company.
I am sorry for your loss Dennis but go on mate have a go,I am sure you will find people will generally be friendly and.........if you have not got one maybe think about getting a little dog.perhaps from a rescue centre, that way you will never be alone!
Hi Dennis. I can only echo what others have said - bite the bullet and go for it. The C & C C sites certainly accept solo campers and you would be more than welcome on UKCS meets.
