Can't comment on the sites as not been, but do a search for them using the searc at the top of this page. From memory past threads have favoured Cofton, but memory not great!!

Campers do it in the mud!
Hubby says we can
We stayed at Ladys Mile, Dawlish last Easter, its next door to Cofton. To get to the beach theres a 20 min walk down a hill-steep coming back up though! Peppermint in actually down in the centre of Dawlish on the flat. We stayed at Peppermint years ago and had a sneaky peek whilst we were in Dawlish how it os now. It is very pricey to stay-£36 a night peek season, the pool is not the biggest-Coftons appears bigger from the brochure.

For price and quality i prefer Cofton, great chippy on site too. But Peppermint is much closer to Dawlish Warren beach. No its not 680m to get there, the measurment is "as the crow flies", but it is still only about a 10 minute walk past amusment arcades, fun park, go carts etc. The bar is bigger at Peppermint, with some entertainment thrown in, quite enjoyed it there. The bar at Cofton is tiny and many times we went offsite because we had no hope of getting in the bar.
So, if you want better quality, price etc but dont mind getting in the car a fair bit, go for Cofton, but, if you want to walk to beach and have some entertainment then Peppermint would be better.
There are a couple of other sites on the hill going into Dawlish Warren but I cant remember the names, will have a little look in a mo.
Forgot to mention the beach is sand/shingle/small pebbles, perfectly ok to lie on, and I have seen many times people in the water on dingys etc. There are life guards on duty.

Dawlish is a lovley area. You can walk to Dwalish from Dawlish warren either across the sea front wall 45 mins to ann hour(no push chairs mind) you come out by Dawlish train staton best chiipy in the world here called 'Baileys,Or you can walk through the copse. Also you can go on a boat trip round the coast for an hour but wrap up warm even if its war onland.Dawlish Warren is a spit of land and has a bird santuary and a watching hut.Trains run regular in school hours and you can reach Dawlish,Teignmouthand Paighton
We went to Cofton for 2 weeks in 06. It was a fab site. Must admit we had 2 weeks of glorious weather and were in the pool everyday. Cant comment on the entertainment but the site itself is immaculate and the toilets were the cleanest i have ever come across! We went with 4 kids and they all loved that holiday (they said it was better than spain lol). You do need a car though! Not much locally but i would rather stay on a site like cofton and have to travel out a bit!
