We are getting our new Burstner ready for the first trip of the year, a short stay at the CC site at Milestone near Newark. A long weekend starting next Saturday and we can't wait!
13 trips last year in our little Elddis, and we are hoping to beat that this year now that we have a bigger and more modern van.
The weather has been wild this week, but a check of the forecast shows better for next week; and we can spend the weekend learning our new caravan, and chill out with a nice glass of wine on Saturday night.
I think we started in March last year, but we just can't wait another month to get away from it all for a weekend.

we havnt got a new van but this year were trying a seasonal pitch so roll on easter. at least we will be able to get the use this year and loads of things happened last year and we only went out a few times. We have been planning on buying some new furnishings , pots pans etc and giving the little van a makeover now that any spare time we can get we will be at the van. Had planned a trip at half term but not sure about the weather now and whether to go or not. Enjoy your new van and get out as much as possible
happy caravanning

Our first booked trip away is Easter but hope to get away before that. We were away just after xmas and it seems ages ago, I get withdrawl symptoms and have to go in the van and rearrange stuff just to get a fix.
Hi, Chewie, (do I know you LOL) hope you enjoy your trip. We're off to Dartmouth on 21 feb without the kids to an adult only site, can't wait, it's been 15 years since we have been away on our own.
You're right it is great down here and we love every part of it! Nice to be able to nip off on a Friday afternoon, not have to travel too far, yet be a million miles away from work!
I'll have a proper pasty for you sometime!!!

We are going on our first trip on 17th Feb to Sandy Balls in The New Forest.Really looking forward to the break. The site was in Practical Caravans top 100 last year so hope it will be okay. This will be the first time we have done a winter trip as we only got our van in the summer. Anyone got any tips?
As we are 'tenters' as opposed to 'vanners' our first expedition is not until the (hopefully) nicer weather in may. We've booked for the Leominster meet in May. Whilst we try to get a couple of sessions in a year we were hoping to get a few more weekend in in 2008.
We also are hoping to get down to the South West. Probably Plymouth way as I lived their for a few years. I also have a dream (as sad as it may sound) to do a camp in Scotland. I've never been further North than Liverpool and would like to go somewhere like Oban or Edinbrough.
Here's hoping this summer will be a little brighter, a little drier and as much fun as last year. (Kev's camping season May - October).
We were last away at New Year and that seems ages ago!! Have just secured a booking for Easter and now looking for something for beginning of March. The intention was to stop at home for 2 month and get some jobs done, which we have done ( and still have to do) but I am getting really itchy feet!!
Kev & Julia , keep that dream and then plan to realise it, it was mine for a time and we went to Scotland for the first time just last year. We stayed at Bunree, near Fort William. You won't be disappointed! It is amazing, Glencoe is quite overwhelming! In fact the whole area is quite stunning and I can't wait to go back and explore some more.
Thanks Belinda. I certainly hear it's a fantastic area. We already have a few plans for this summer but next year I am persuadding Julia that our main holiday sould be a mini tour. My idea was to stop for a couple of nights in North Wales or near the border. Then we would follow the West coast and take in the scenery.
It would definitely be a walking and photography break.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
