I'm sure I read on here a while back that there is a hand cream available from Boots which works a treat against midges even though that wasn't what is was originally made for. Anyone know the name? Also when are the midges about? I went to the Highlands in September last year stayed all over the place and only heard/saw one in two weeks. Would like to go again in the Spring but suspect that this will be the breeding season.

I think you might be thinking of Avon Skin so Soft - you need the original woodland fragrance.  Been to Scotland in August and saw no midges then either.

The only thing that works , as far as i know is (AVON skin so soft)

having travelled the north west many a time on motorcycle with a tent . now with caravan (not on the back of the bike) ha ha .

is this the stuff you have heard of . you can get it at any camping shop up here or from the avon lady .
