Can anyone tell me how much it costs to park your car in the Lake District? I have been told it's £4.00 a day. Also does anyone know if the car parks are owned by the National Trust as if they are I think it would be worth my while joining up to avoid paying the car parking fees!

Must admit i thought even if they were owned by NT you still had to pay just the same. We were in the Lake District in October and didnt pay £4.00 per day anywhere, but about £2.00 - £2.50 but perhaps it varies throughout the year.
When we went to Pembrokeshire last year we didn't have to pay in the National Trust carparks there if you were a member. Don't know if that's the same everywhere.
Members do not have to pay in National Trust car parks - very useful when using the beaches in Cornwall.
Weren't thye reducing the parking in Grasmere because it was so expensive the tourists were not conducive to visitors doing walks round the lake etc and then staying long enough to spend any money in the village.
------------- No, really?!

Most car parks in the Lakes are run by either the National Park authority or the local council. The only National Trust car parks in the lakes are at NT attractions. As for charges £4/£6 sounds about right for a full day.
