HI,
We booked the Riverside caravan park in Stratford upon Avon a couple of months ago - they have called today to say the site is water logged!!!!
Can anyone suggest anywhere within 75 miles of Shropshire that might not be fully booked, our needs are simple really elec hookup, clean showers and a walk away from town / pubs / eateries?
We feel our weekend away is ruined
Thanks
Darren

Hi 2plus1,
There are a couple not far away but they are miles away from the nearest town or anything else, we want a weekend where we're not worrying about the driving really
Thanks

We tried to go to this site in October 06 and it was water logged then, is it a problem they often suffer from? Would like to go there sometime

Hi, you could try Abersystwyth holiday Village, we are from Shrewsbury and went a few years ago, took us about 2 hrs, nice site and very reasonably priced. Also Plassey at Wrexham, not been but has very good reviews. We are going to ty Mawr in North Wales at half term is takes us about an hour and there is loads to do in the area. If you go to the camp Site search section and look around North wales, Conwy, Llandudno, Abergele there are quite a few sites. Hope this helps

You could try Gilestone Farm near Brecon http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=4408
About 5-10 mins walk along the canal from the village of Talybont which has a couple of nice pubs and a general shop.

Sorry to here that Daz. We were there last weekend and it was a bit muddy on the pitch we had, but it was good weather on that weekend and it dried out. We left on Sunday afternoon and it was completely dry, just shows a couple of days of heavy showers soon affects it. I know they were fully booked for this weekend we tried to get in, we saw pictures of last year on the site and it was 3 ft under water.

This has worried me. We are booked in for 4 days in July. It's a long way to come and end up with no where to stay. I might cancel and go somewhere else.
We need a site that's within walking distance of a pub and thats dog friendly. Does anyone have any other suggestions. Have a look at my signature to check out our itinerary

I would'nt be put off by that Cathymac, ring them a couple of day's before you leave. If you have a big sites book you will find somewhere else or travel the few extra miles into the Cotswolds plenty of sites there.

Hi,
Thanks for all odropped and f the suggestions, I called Riverside back on Friday morning and they said the river level had the ground was drying out, but if you want to come bring your wellies.
It was a touch damp underfoot Friday night but not too bad, we had good weather all day Saturday, then managed to dodge the rain showers yesterday. Today was rain all morning but still managed to get oof the pitch ok.
All in all a great weekend and a lovely site.
