We have bben trying to book a weekend over the coming bank holiday period and phoned just about evrywhere where we want to go, I have only found one site that has space for us but they are charging £31 per night not including awning etc. Is this a rip off? as they only charge £24 per night all in, in high season. Didnt know if i was just being tight but seems like a lot of money to me for a 3 night break works out at £100 ish!!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Not sure were you are in the North East, and how far you want to travel?
We had a fantastic weekend last weekend at Blue Dolphin (Haven Park). I know that people love or hate Haven.
We never went into the arcades or used the clubs or bought the food, kids did go swimming and used the football area. It cost less that £25 for 3 nights for 5 of us.
We are going to Whitewater park at Stockton today and that's costing £15 per night
Hope you find what you want and have a good holiday
we steer clear of sites that charge prices like, we've re-booked to go to a cs site for the bank holiday and it's costing us £24 for the 3 nights. If we want entertainment we'll bob into Brid for the day. Are you a member of any of the clubs??

May 13 - Cala Gogo, St Cyprien (didn't go, hubby too ill to travel)
May 14 Ranc Davaine
August 14 Les Sablons
August 13 - Camping Playa Brava, Pals
I'm booked onto a site in Littlehampton for the late May bank holiday which is costing £18 per night. No restriction on the amount of nights you need to stay either. Also that's with a 8mx8m tent!
We've just come back from the Haven site at Filey, Primrose Valley. For over the May Day weekend, Friday to Tuesday it cost us just over £60.00 and that was for up to 6 of us & 1 dog (they charge £3.00 a night for the dog). Haven do great deals at certain times of the year, probably will charge more for the spring bank holiday, but if you consider the charge is for up to 6 people, awning, car (we had 2 cars & no extra charge) & entertainment passes, I don't thinks it too bad. It's not a site we would chose if it was just for me & OH, but with 3 teenagers to please, it was and ideal place.
I refuse to pay £30 (or more) for a site, bank holiday or not! We like to use C&CC sites but will not use their more expensive sites - Scarborough was the most we have ever paid, it was £25 several years ago. I have just booked a municipal site in France for 13 euros/night (£10.29) for caravan, 2 adults, 2 teenagers, ehu. Sounds a lovely site as well. Unfortunately i think most sites will be booked up for this bank holiday by now.
Thanks everyone we have decided to go the weekend before as we cant find anything but the 1 site. (the £31 per night) that was for 2 adults a 2 year old and a 5 year old.
Alison this is the one that want to charge us £31 over the bank holiday, thats exactly my point its no where near that cost usually hence i am not paying £31 out of principal.
I would go elsewhere, plenty of sites that don't charge extortionate fees and if we all stop using sites who do charge these extremly high prices I reckon they will sonn get the message.
I hate paying more than £15 a night for caravan/awning/ anynumber of adults and kids up to 5 and a dog. Anything higher is just OTT!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
