We're hoping to be doing a bit of camping in Devon some time in August. We have never been to that part of England before and was hoping that someone might be able to recommend a good place to go and also recommend beautiful and friendly campsites :)
We're looking for a campsite that allows campfires and dogs and that has amenities suitable for 6 days camping.
TIA

we camped at the dart valley park, Ashburton, very nice location lots of fun in the woods` and not to expensive. Woodlands datmouth, friends went at easter had a great time lots for kids to do as it is next to a fun park and pitch price includes entry to the park. Both great for youngish children. Both in good position for traveling around the area. Beaches one side dartmoor the other and plymouth and exeter both in driving distance. Torquay and Paighton both nice to look around and Paigthton zoo is great. Dornafield looks nice but the road to it was flooded when we went to look around. Good luck looking
We love Dawlish Warren and would move there too. I haven't camped there but my husband and son had a weekend in Leadstone and would reccommend it. We usually stay in a static caravan in a holiday park across the road and I keep intending to look at Peppermint parks camping area. They sometimes have spaces available even in August - they put a sign out on the pavement.
mrs p, you've got me going now - I want to be there!! Although the shops are just the touristy type, its really nice to browse on your way to the beach. Quite a few pubs along the way too!!

p.s i can highly recommend the log cabins at peppermint they r fantastic.
We also like Dawlish Warren, last time we stayed at Crofton Country at Starcross (just outside the Warren) great site. But you would need a car to get around.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
