My husband and I have booked to go to Haven Porthmadog this weekend using their camping site facilities.
We are travelling in a motorhome from Neath in South Wales. It is our first time and would be glad of any tips that will be useful to us by way of travelling or staying there. Some info on the Portmeirion village too please.
Regards Jill & steve
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We stayed there last year. We love the site, and had stayed in a static a couple of years before. The site has direct beach access, which is nice.
The little site shop is expensive - so nip down to Porthmadog itself, and go to Tescos for your groceries - it is just past the railway line. Portmadog itself is lovely. The ice cream shop Cadwalladers is definately worth a visit or two.
We stayed here in a static and its one of a few Haven sites that I would visit again, the area is lovely, so much to do , the Portmeirion village is well worth a visit.
The site is right on the beach, lovely big expanse of sand when the tide is out, seems to stretch for ever. There are loads of steam railways and castles to visit, snowdonia is on your doorstep, we didn't have time to fit it all in.
Hope you have a great holiday.

We went to stay in a Static caravan at Haven Porthmadog last year & really enjoyed it.Just a short walk to the beach which is very busy & carparking on the beach.Found the site to be very clean & the static area laid out very well.Never felt we were on a large site except for the entertainment area.
However :
We did take note of the camping pitches & they were very crammed in.No room for children to play.
The club bar on site is very expensive (as usual) & the service at the bar was very, very slow.Tables at the club fill up early.
We went for days out etc, Porthmeirion worth a trip. But the queues to get back into Porthmadog everyday are very tedious.
Large Tescos turn left at the main junction from the Site.
Thank you all for giving advice. Here now and getting the feel of the place. The sun is out and we want to bbq but a bit windy (no alot windy ) so looking for an alternative. Thanks again.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
