Well in 2 weeks today me and wifey will be camping for a week, not far from Aberport / cardigan, we are going on a boat trip also hopefully to see dolphins etc.
We have never been this area before, anyone got any advice on other places to visit, recommended pubs etc, any options would be great
Thanks folks
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
It's further up from us, and I don't know that area very well at all, but I can say the coastline is superb, you stand a fair chance of seeing Dolphins, porpoises and maybe a seal or two (time of year makes that one a chance only)on your boat trip. There were a few Gannets up there a few weeks back as well. The local food produce is excellent, do try local sausages and bacon as most is farmed and cured locally. (go on, tell me your Vegies now,LOL).
About 10 miles away is Cilgerran where there is the Welsh Wild Life Centre ( http://www.welshwildlife.org/wwcIntro_en.link ) and some lovely walks. If you take the litte road just up from the ruins of Cilgerran castle, (I think it's by the post office) it takes you to a picnic spot deep in the Teifi valley (there is a little visitor centre there with some nice local history)where you sit in this wooded valley just feet away from the River Teifi. It is so quiet there the birdsong echos along the river. Beautiful. You can actually do a walk from the wildlife centre to the gorge. ( http://www.visitpembrokeshire.com/cenarth.aspx ). Not too far from there is also Cenarth Falls. Nice views and walk, but parking can be a blighter and a bit dear at times.
Other than that, I can't say a lot. Sorry.
hope this helps. Oh it's Aberporth by the way :-)

We are also staying outside Cardigan in a week's time and I emailed the Tourist Information Centre and a lovely lady emailed me back with a list of events & dates in the area (a regatta, an agricultural show etc etc) and also sent me a pack of information about the area and what's on. The wildlife centre looks great & is also free and there are a couple of places that do boat trips. One goes from New Quay and a fast-rib-boat goes from Cardigan. Cenarth Falls looks good and the Tefi valley is great for walks, as well as the coastal path if you like walking - we do!
Where are you staying?

Only just caught up with this thread: there's plenty to do and see in this area especially now it's open!!! West Wales tends not to open till now and close by the end of september!!!
The Honey Farm at New Quay
Dolphins from the boat trips - although come later in the season and they are spotted from the beaches.
Seals bobbing around Mwnt
The chocolate factory at Pembrey
Lots of lovely sandy beaches, stunning coastline
Some excellent food, fish and chips at new quay, aberearon and St dogmaels we've tried em all. A lovely pub call the New Inn at pentregat, some excellent pubs in aberporth and for that special meal the Hungry Trout at New Quay. Or even better is a BBQ at Brynawelon with some locally produced food from the local farm shop!!
Much of the activities are 'outdoor' activities, so bring the wet weather gear just in case!

------------- If you can't beat em, join em, so we did! And then we sold it for a holiday let & Glamping pod instead 😁
Castell henllys is a great few hours out for both adults and kids. When we went, the kids went off to do medieval arts and crafts for an hour or so, and we were given a guided tour and history lesson. Very interesting for both kids and adults.
